View Full Version : Fishing Report for Charlestown area?
I was wondering how the boat fishing has been in the Charlestown area for bass? I have heard that the shore fishermen have been picking up a few here and there. I'd like to try running a tube & worm tomorrow evening on the Charlestown coastline, would I be better off at Watch Hill or Point Judith?
JohnR 07-20-2001, 09:05 AM I was talking to a couple NPSFA boat fellas last week and they said that if they couldn't hit Block, they would work Narragansett or Fisher's Island... The only boat stuff from the Breachway area that I heard was fluke in 30-40...
Whaddaya think about the Pro Sports boats? You got yours where? I'm asking because if I join the dark side, I'm considering a 2550WA or 2200WA
John,
I bought my Pro-Sports from Mike @ B.O.A.Ts Marine in Charlestown. I have only had it for about 6-7 weeks now but I love it. I shopped around the state and I found it was the most boat for the money. I equipped it with a 115hp Suzuki 4-stroke, and it makes a great combo. The fact that it's a local dealer who lives on my street is icing on the cake!
JohnR 07-20-2001, 10:06 AM Sounds good... I'd like to take advantage of Rhody's no sales tax on boats but most of the ones I'm considering (dreaming of is more like it) are all out of state: Proline, Wellcraft, Sportcraft, yadayadayada...
I'll need to contact some manufacturers and see if they want to assist in "The Official Boat of Striped-Bass.Com" hehehe
Thanks...
John
schoolie monster 07-20-2001, 12:05 PM John, you laugh, but that's what all those freshwater bass fisherman do. We had a couple guys in our local B.A.S.S. chapter who contacted boat dealers, rod&reel manufacturers, line, lures, clothing, batteries, trolling motors, pfd's... you name it, they'd target them.
They got deals, freebies, etc... most of it was crap and samples, but some wasn't... one guy got free batteries every year from a local dealer... you never know what they might do for a bit of advertising. The funny thing was, these guys never caught any fish.
If you've got the hits, and you'll advertise, they may swing you a deal. You launch some decent boating features (public launches, locations of marinas, links to marine forcast, links to nav. charts provider, forum on the board... I'm just throwing things out there) and it generates interest... You already have quite a few skippers that frequent the site.
Or you could just get Patrick to build you boat in lieu of your promise not to give him the boot!
Well, as long as you use eels bought at BREACHWAY BAIT and only bought at BREACHWAY BAIT, count on consistantly catching 30-40 pounders right in the breachway.
Rich,
I have tried that for the past couple of years without any luck on the 40lb fish out of the Charlestown Breachway, Ron must be catching them all and leaving none for us.
Go see the Doctor today, get some medicine. soon!
JohnR 07-23-2001, 08:36 AM The only problem is that Ron is always closed whan I go by there - besides, I think I get my eels from the same place he gets his eels, hehehehe....
Not many 40 pounders coming out of that Breachway anyway (but it's the best one)
John,
Well I must say I haven't really put any effort into fishing from shore period this season. I have been spending my limited time in the boat mostly at BI and PJ where I seem to be having the best luck.
But a few friends have been fishing eels in the breachway and pulling in some 30-34" fish is all I have heard...
