BF,

At this point, the details are very sketchy (for obvious reasons ;)),
but here are some of the operative comments I've heard from the man himself and the witnesses (VERY few):

1. a grown man running up and down the shoreline with a light rod in hand not to get frayed/spooled, etc...

2. new igfa record for 8# test.

3. 48+ inches...fat 46 something #'s

Congrats to the well deserving, very giving, and one of the hardest fishman I know. You deserve it man

ps: you guessed right about who it is. ;)

It is free of typos and he is as you say, well deserving and a true gentleman! I hope it is so!;)

Wow, that is skill. My buddy fought and landed a 11 1/2 # on 8 pound test for a half an hour just the other night and I was impressed. Any idea how long the fight was? He must have had a poopie load of line on. All I can say is wowwy wow wow!!!

I will leave the rest of the details to the man himself to post somewhere. I just wanted to pass on some info. But whatever the time was, I'd like to have that kind of time! Wow is right.

That is good catch esp. from the beach!

I tried ultra light on bass a couple times and went back to standard gear...it is frustrating to loose that many fish. For me "light" is now 30# PowerPro.

A wonderful catch!! Congrats!

Wasn't from the beach or anywhere close to one, which makes this feat even more amazing

Way to go Al.

Well, there ya go - the man most likely to succeed :btu:

Probably the guy most likely to get "the" record that would stick for more than a while ;) - but I don't wanna jinx him.

Way to go Alberto! Keep up the good work, pal -

(PS - Alberto, if you see this, it doesn't look like we're gonna make it for May trouting down your way - hey, you wanna come up to flyfish for tautog :p- I found a spot but ya gotta get here soon)

Nice job Al - they sy 10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish - why is it that you're probably in the top of the top 10 :btu:

THANK YOU GUYS!

Yes, it is true that I caught a very interesting by catch. :)
The truth of the matter is… It is tiderunner season and that’s what I was chasing with my freshwater 7’ stick and 8 lbs. test line outfit. It was during a dark overcast night and the tide was near slack, and we are also approaching the new moon phase! For those who attended my seminar – It was exactly the right conditions (tide / moon / conditions) I was referring to. For those who missed my seminars – Keep an eye for the next On The Water issue. ;)

All in all, she fought like a true champ (made me run like a little kid and challenged my skills to the max.). At this time, the paperwork is being processed. Thanks again and it’s amazing how fast news travels. :)
