This weekend I saw an infomercial about "the greatest lure of all time"...the "Banjo Minnow"

If you think there is a better lure then the banjo minnow, then you can callenage the orginator to a one and one with your lure against his...looser pay 10K to the winner.

Looks like a ultra soft rubba fish.

Yeah i will admit it I bought the bango minnow kit. It wasn't a bad investment but, however its moving action isnt what they make it out to be. My first cast with it I caught a largemouth with it, and have caught a few more largemouths and pike with them. Lets just say its better then the helicopter lure and the flying lure kits.

might work good as a teaser infront of a plug..

latenight infomercial gadgets might actually find some

real use..

I prefer the Flying lure in the Made For TV category of lures... it actually works really well in the lilly pads and around weeds. Whether it works any better than a plastic worm is a different story. It does work as advertised though, swimming under the cover...

I bought the kit at #^&#^&#^&#^&s Sporting for $9.95. I actually caught the biggest largemouth of my life on one of the biggest minnows. Haven't caught anything else though. Pretty much gave up on it.

Well, I just *had* to see "the lure that will out fish any lure in exsistance today" so I ordered their "big fish kit" these are rubber fish 7" and 9" that have a wire (ie a large hitchhiker) the screws into the head of the bait. Then the hook ( decent wide gap) attaches to this hitchhiker. The hook is fully *in front* of the bait.
I got is yesterday and was going to try it last evening but there were a lot of bluefish around and I was afraid that if I put this in the water it would come back just a head....like my storms do.
I will post a photo of this whacky thing when I get a chance to.

I have a good spot to try this tomorrow.

IMO this will catch fish but it is a piece of crap. The printed fish picture on the plastic is really lame. I would rather fish with a quality plastic lure...ie ledgerunner.

i had them.

1 fish will tear it to shreds, plastic is wimpy. they dont last long.

For those of you that fish them. I noticed at the Natick Building 19 they had bags of them for thin money, no jig heads but if you fish with them you probably have that covered.

I had a kit (and still have parts from it) from a couple years back and can confirm that it will catch fish, but man, do those stupid little fish get torn to shreds in a hurry. The whole rig is far too delicate to be practical.

Your not going to believe this...3rd cast with a banjo minnow had a 19# bass late last night. Off the dock in a well known striper spot. I could not believe it but the line was ripping off my reel and I had to tighten down the drag to stop this guy in the strong current and nearly straightened the imitation gamagatsu wide gap hook. I had lightish gear ( my 8' Tsuami with small penn liveliner and 30# braid)
I didn't to much with it (a few hits) after that, but the fish split soon after I arrived.:( I noticed each time I had a hit the lure came back fouled around the hook.

A bluefish would make quick work of it and it casts kinda lame (would be troublesome in a headwind) but it seems to actaully work...."best lure in exsistance?"...no way.

I don't see me fishing it much as most of my places are heavier surf conditions but I will give it to the kids to play with in the ponds to chase schoolies.

Here is what it looks like:

One late night, in a moment of drunken foolishness, my buddy and I order this thing. In fact the operator talked us into buying two for a deal (suckers). Ours had a cockscrew mechanism that attached to the head of the bait. The plastic was so soft that with nearly every cast the lure would go flying off into the trees. This was about 6 or 7 years ago. I'm not sure if they may have been improved since. The creator is a stand up guy though. He is a fishing guide in Maine. I met him when I was on a white water rafting trip. When I complained about being ripped off he offered to take me out fishing to show me how to work it. Unfortunately this was this last day of my vacation so I couldn't take him up on the offer. He did buy me a beer at the brew house though.
