Dakota Dave 05-26-2004, 04:10 PM Greetings!
Being a recent transplant from South Dakota to Rhode Island, I am quite the rookie at striper fishing, so I'll be doing more reading and learning than contributing. I caught my first striper last October at the Narragansett pier, and instantly became addicted.
The only real fishing knowledge I could share, (probably in a separate forum) is a little I bring from SD, i.e. walleye/pike/catfish, and from some time I have spent in Alaska on Kodiak Island. I'd be happy to answer any inquiries concerning those areas, but like I said, I'm here to be educated in the ways of the striper.
Thanks and blessed fishing.

a lot of the same methods/lures you use for pike will work for stripers, like "walking the dog" with a spook or pencil popper. also 5 and 7" swimmers like mambos and bombers retrieved slowly catch some nice fish. and jerk baits like slug-gos and fin-s fish are killers. fish anywhere with structure. where there is structure there is current, and where there is current there will be predators waiting for bait to be swept by. just a friendly suggestion, don't post specific where you are catching on this site. general areas are good though.
