View Full Version : Need to know what an acid brush is?
BigFish 05-27-2004, 01:56 PM Recommended I use one to put on my envirotex. What is it, what does it look like and where can I find them? I looked at Michaels Crafts and Home Depot and no luck. A picture of one would help me so I know what I am looking for.:D Thanks for any help in advance.
Gloucester2 05-27-2004, 03:01 PM Home Cheapo in the plumbing section . . . same brush used to apply flux while soldering. Metal handle. Red Top has'm too near the rod wrapping stuff (if it's still out).

Diamond Tackle 05-27-2004, 11:54 PM Larry,
Make sure you wash the brush in isopryl(rubbing) alcohol.You will see some oils wash out . And only use them once. They are throw aways.
BigFish 05-28-2004, 06:59 AM After washing in alcohol, how long to let them dry?:confused:
Christian 05-28-2004, 07:25 AM after washing them in alcohol just shake the excess out and wipe it on a clean paper towl, theyll be dry in like a minute.
Bob Thomas 12-10-2004, 06:55 PM Hate to bring up this topic again, but when I'm putting my envirotex on the plugs, the hairs of the acid brush keep falling off, making one heck of a mess.
Any ideas on how to cure this one?

afterhours 12-10-2004, 07:19 PM i found that flex coat epoxy brushes work much better than acid brushes.
I buy a cheap polyester brush like 1" an clean it with alcohol when done.Acid brushes are wat i used to make black light paintings years ago.:cool: :happy:
Charleston 12-11-2004, 10:35 AM Larry;
Go to MSCDirect (add a dot com) you can get the brushes by the gross for approx. 10 bux. They ship immediately!! Get the 3/8 " size. I find the 1/2" a little big.
Christian 12-11-2004, 11:09 AM you can krimp the end holding the bristles with a pair of pliers. it will help.
Diamond Tackle 12-11-2004, 11:34 AM ya didnt hear this from me, but
at like mc donalds or burger king, they have free epoxy mixing cups. they call them catsup cups, but we know better :D
