Fishing in the canal in Gloucester tonight and caught my first tagged fish. It was a schoolie about 24". From what I can read off the tag, it came from Richland, NJ. The tag has some other digits on it and a message that reads "return ????TORAL. It is kinda beat up. Some of you guys must have caught tagged fish before. I know I am supposed to report it but have limited info. Any tips on where to look (internet?) or who to call?

Thanx

yes, caught a few of their tagged fish over the years:)

That’s the American Littoral Society based out of New Jersey, hence the "TORAL". You'll get a fish patch or something for turning it in.

Heres their website--

Thanx S-J, that is exactly it.

A friend once caught a 42" tagged fish with a helluva history. Don't remember the details but he got a certificate and a hat.

Spin, when you get the info on the fish please post, or PM me. I'd be interested in see where it came from. My guess would be somewhere near Montauk, seems like most of the Litoral tags are put on around there for some reason? I've gotten three of them, all caught in the Scituate to Hull strech, and they were all caught and tagged near Montauk.
