How many people work in an office and count the minutes until they leave so they can go fishing? This time of the year I just pray that I will be fired or let go, I can't stand working when good fishing is upon us.

Actually, since I'm just checking out this website, daydreaming about fishing, checking out plugs, and doing my fantasy baseball teams all day hopefully I will be fired soon:-)

I have become a weekend warior, someone please put me out of my misery:smash:

Dude, you could pee into the ocean from your deck. There are plenty of decent places around there where you can go out for an hour or two a night (tide depandant) and not beat yourself up.
It was even harder for me to focus on work when we used to be in Q-town. Used to have to look out the windows and see people catchin fish while I was chained to my desk.
I been tryin to get laid off with a nice package since day one. But I've been here for so long now that I have so much vaca and personal time, that it is a pretty sweet deal.
You wanna join us for a bit tomorrow evenin'? Gonna be in your neck of the woods for a few hours.

I'm up in Marina bay, so there are a few spots I could sneek away for an hour or so at lunch, only problem is I would never come back:-)

Man, now that must have been painful. I only have to watch the boats leaving, if there was catching going on within my view here I would crack.

Redlite, PM is on the way....

I make the mad dash at lunch to wet a line. Just got back. Managed one schoolie and didn't have to listen to anybody whine about there systems.

Grab it when you can.....especially if your near the water.

I work about 10 minutes from the water.. It can be maddening. The key to surviving through the work day is to come to grips with the fact that if you wan to catch quality fish, you must fish at night. Last year I used to boogie out of work and fish all late afternoon until dusk.... I never caught anything large:(
After some consultation from Goosefish I have learned the way of the night tides-

S-journey take a nap after work and fish all night- you'll catch larger fish and be able to make it through the work day

Thats why, during fishing season, my office is in my Jeep CJ-7. Nothing like booking work while you are sitting on Race Point catching fish!:kewl: :laugha:

Oh, how it must suck working in one of those cubicles! Ooops...fish on...gotta go!:D

I hear you guys on that one. I live in Wareham, about 5 min from the water, but I have to drive to Raynham to work. Total opposite direction that I want to drive, and sit in my little cage, checking out this site, wishing that I was on the water as well. Maybe I'll get a job selling salt water taffy of something.....wait I got it, a lifeguard, I can put a pole holder on my watch stand...that might work, just don't know how long I'll be married though or be able to pay the mortgage.:(

E's got it right... I almost never fish with sunglasses on; makes the home life easier as well if you're not leaving til 9p or later... I grab a nap when I can after or at lunch time when needed; you'd be surprised how little sleep you need once your body is trained...

I am one of those weekend warriors and it is tough sometimes during the week I see someone saying nailing fish last night. Oh well when the little one or two grows up I will have time to fish during the week if I want.

I can't stand being stuck in this cubicle behind a computer during fishing season either, it kills me. to top it off I'm on the 7th floor of a building in N Quincy and out one side is the Neposet river, the other is the harbor itself. During the spring and summer the days just seem to go by so slow with that as your scenery especially when birds start busting on bait and fish out your window! It's maddening, I can't stand it anymore.

Bigfish, Yep, that's where I am right now unfortunately. I was just staring out the window right now and there are some birds hovering and occasionally diving in the neponset. I can't take it, I am an outdoorsman at heart with a job sitting in a cell inside behind a computer? What was I thinking going to school for this? Well in the winter you appreciate it but this time of year it is really tough getting through the day.

Lets get a pool together and try to win some lottery. then we can fish all of the time. Ever lottery ticket I buy has the wish of spending time on the water instead of an padded cell.

I am fortunate enough to work less than five minutes from lots of water and to have a job with incredibly flexible hours. I get to sit here and read all of the stuff on the forums and psyche myself up for fishing before, during or after work. One thing I know that has to be different this season... MORE NIGHT FISHING!

Spinncognito....if you are not out there night fishing right now....I don't mean this minute but at night......you are missing the boat! What are you waiting for?

Great, now we have a new virus tearing us a new A$$, the "WORM_KROGO.F". Spreading on 139 and 445, techies beware, it's spreading quick.

Time to shut down the VPN's...

Bunch of whiney-hineys, you get to sit on your arses and play on the computer and daydream about fishing. All leaving you with plenty of energy to get out for a couple of hours at night.;) :)

Pity the poor sucker that frames houses, or lays block, or bolts on a main assembly at the line. Notice how he ain't posting. He's bustin' it right now and will go home so tired he won't feel like nothing but a beer, bread and bed.

Bigfish, Wow, that is below the belt to a poor guy like me gazing through plexi glass at flat calm water. Well only a half hour or so more of hell then I can go fishing.

Time to shut down the VPN's...

Actually its time ot Embrace the VPN's. 139 doesn't need to be open...ever...if your using a VPN. 445 is SSL if I'm not mistaken and you need that for Secure Internet Connections (HTTPS) unless your supporting your own Web-Commerce Server it should be shut down Incoming also

S-Journey
06-02-2004, 03:35 PM
Sorry dude, you are very wrong.

SSL used for HTTPS is 443

139 is used for netbios and needs to be open to support our users in remote offices. Without it they would not be able to use mail, file shares or comunicate with the DC's(yes, we are still running NT 4)

When I said shut the VPN's down, I ment to shut them down temporarly. Whenever you have a zero hour virus that is tearing chit up, and it is comming from our parent company, the VPN goes down until we can assess the situation and make sure our users are safe. Thats why they are hit hard, and we are in the clear.

And 445 and 139 is always blocked at the gateway, or should be if your FW admin has half a brain:)
