View Full Version : Gag's Slammers Bliz 06-02-2004, 12:19 PM Has anyone tried the Gag's Slammers yet? If so, what are your thoughts?... S-Journey 06-02-2004, 12:51 PM Worked good last year trolling em deep water. Only tried a few times, but was very happy. Probley work good for the football tuna too if you run out of silver? Bliz 06-02-2004, 01:28 PM Catch any large on them?... S-Journey 06-02-2004, 02:00 PM Not really, depends on what you consider large. I think the biggest was around 38". Shawn B 06-02-2004, 02:06 PM I have had some success trolling the mack colored one on wire last year but I really haven't tried it much this year for some reason. Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:12 PM What I really like about this lure is that you cannot feel it at the end of the line... you only see the bass slam it! S-Journey 06-02-2004, 02:13 PM Hey Bliz, how are you fishing em? From the shore? BigFish 06-02-2004, 02:16 PM They blow from the shore....they cast like a$$! At $15.00 a piece......give me wood that casts good!;) S-Journey 06-02-2004, 02:21 PM Was just thinking that I have a few, maybe give em a shot? They are bought and paid for, unlike the wood I need to get:D Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:23 PM I have tried casting them, but find that these are better being trolled. They cast as Bigfish has said... like crap! But they swagger aweful nicely on the retrieve! I really like the profile on these, and hope to see a more castable model in the future. Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:26 PM There may be a way that can be readily corrected... I'll have to check with Al Gags... BigFish 06-02-2004, 02:26 PM Casting like crap would only mean they were casting better than a$$....:laugha: They are rather seductive looking in the water.;) Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:27 PM They look deadly. BigFish 06-02-2004, 02:30 PM Last years model of the Slammer was deficient in nose weight so it was having trouble getting its swim started. Al came out to MSBA in March and showed everyone how to remedy that situation on the older models and also showed the improvements they had made to the weight of the nose on the new Slammers.......they still cast like a$$! Problem is all the weight is in the nose so when you throw them they flip a$$ over tea kettle, and do not cast too far at all. Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:33 PM I almost forgot to tell you guys because I forgot myself... Cast these plugs sidearm & you'll do much better! I'll be out tonite doing the same & I'll report on results... I've heard that works much better! BigFish 06-02-2004, 02:35 PM You can have em' Bliz....in fact you can have mine... ....oooops, forgot I never bought any! Cause they cast like a$$.:smash: Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:37 PM Sidearm Grasshopper!... You must Cast Sidearm!..... Bliz 06-02-2004, 02:38 PM Otherwise, you can find my addy on the Plug Project thread! :laughs: ReelChitty 06-02-2004, 04:14 PM The only gags that work are the minnows other than that they are all poor attemps lures. I caught alot of fish on the gags bluefish bombers but the paint would come off in the sand. Hahahaha and the slammers just looked like a joke the first day I saw them.Stick to wood, you just can't beat it. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
