View Full Version : Extra fishing day? Bush Declares Friday A Federal Holiday...
fishweewee 06-07-2004, 09:35 AM ...to observe the passing of former President Ronald Reagan.
Don't mean to be disrespectful, but I just thought I'd get an early start on your weekend plans.
jugstah 06-07-2004, 10:05 AM Damn, wonder if Romney will declare a State holiday for Reagan?? pfft, I don't think so...
RIJIMMY 06-07-2004, 10:16 AM The NYSE has not said if its closing or not. When Nixon died, they did. I may be off if the market is closed.
trigga 06-07-2004, 10:58 AM yep me too.. my job is revolved around the nyse too..
fishweewee 06-07-2004, 11:15 AM Reuters just quoted a source saying the markets would likely be closed this Friday.
basswipe 06-07-2004, 11:21 AM Let's all catch a fish in honor of our late great leader.
RIJIMMY 06-07-2004, 12:14 PM Yup, markets are closed. :p :p :p
ThrowingTimber 06-07-2004, 01:07 PM Anyone know if the Federal Reserve is still open?
fishweewee 06-07-2004, 01:33 PM Fed is definitely closed, so bond markets and banks are closed.
Friday is also a stock exchange holiday.
Notaro 06-07-2004, 02:23 PM so i guess that we all are free. does this apply to state house interns?
ThrowingTimber 06-07-2004, 03:03 PM We're a bank the fed is closed and we are still open.

Newboater 06-07-2004, 04:54 PM Might be off. Work for AT&T on Department of State contract. The passport agencies close, so do we.
Wh00t !!!
Slipknot 06-07-2004, 05:12 PM Ben, so where we fishin' ?:D
fishweewee 06-07-2004, 05:13 PM :hihi:
Iwannakeeper 06-07-2004, 06:03 PM Normally I would never get this day off. My company is small and doesn't follow the feds or the state when declaring days off.
But I have Friday off anyhow - I took it off weeks ago. Because my wonderful girl-friend got me a present. A day on the boat with Bil and Jules. Wish me luck. I think I am going to get put on my first keeper...and hopefully a bunch of them.
Fisherwoman if you read this I am so eager to go....I am already having trouble sleeping and constantly squirm in my seat. I cannot wait to get out there and land some striped-ones.

D'oh! Ohwell.
chris L 06-08-2004, 02:35 PM for me to get Friday off Reagan would have to have been a Yale grad or a major contributor . but I start vacation on friday night .
so I need 2 bushes and a clinton to die before I get a day off .
Krispy 06-09-2004, 11:53 AM WOOHOO, I got Friday off!!
redlite 06-09-2004, 02:08 PM They gave us a choice. Work HALF a day friday and get a vacation day or take it off.
Chalk up another day for the fall.
redneck24 06-09-2004, 05:56 PM im lucky i get christmas off! damn cars always break. :wall:
Mike P 06-09-2004, 07:26 PM Looks like I'll be one of only two people in my ofice who have to go in. :(
But, I'm probably gonna have a choice of taking either a weekend session pay or a comp day
Shawn B 06-10-2004, 03:28 PM Well even though we are off every other day the Stock Market is closed my place is making us come in for a half day tomorrow. I can't believe we are not getting any comp time or something for coming in. There goes my thoughts of getting an extra boating day I guess.
RIJIMMY 06-10-2004, 03:33 PM I got screwd too, we're working tomorrow
Steve K 06-10-2004, 03:56 PM Where I work we also follow the market holidays but we are open tomorrow. It doesn't make any sense to me especially because of the rarity of the event. Every other country in the world would shut down out of respect but not here.
Newboater 06-10-2004, 09:02 PM Day off with full pay
Just wish it had been different circumstances.
But ! I'll Take It
