View Full Version : Fishing Injuries...
TBone 06-11-2004, 08:41 AM Any stories, hooks in the hand, bluefish bites...
My best is catching my first striper about 6 years ago, before I got more serious with the sport. Fishing in South County, on top of a large rocks wearing boots and jeans...landed my first fish and the adrenaline was PUMPING. Proceeded to get down off the rock and slip on the one I was stepping down to (keep in mind no corkers low tide) fell face first rod in hand. Tore up some tendons in my wrist and sliced it up pretty good. Had to go work, as a cable tech, with a brand new wrist wrap and 15 stitches at noon.

MrsSFrances 06-11-2004, 10:29 AM i actually hooked myself:smash:
i was getting ready to cast a plug, swung the rod behind my back and WHOOSH, but the plug stuck into the back of my head, I didnt even realize it was in my head, I thought it was caught in my hat:smash:
I ripped it out with my husband having a fit, cause he could see that it was stuck in my head....LOL..didnt realize till I started bleeding....
my husband aka Plug Face, was fishing a jetty one night and went to walk done a bit and forgot that his other rod was laying on the ground and stepped on it, now mind there is a plug on the rod hooked to one of the guides, it flipped up and the plug caught him right below his eye, he went to the hospital and sat there with hooks in his face for 3 hours, when finally he got pissed cause he wasnt getting any help, he drove 3 hours home, with hooks in his face, by this time his eye swelled shut, he got to the hospital in our area and had to have them cut out, he has some nerve damage..and now will never live down the name plug face with his buds:laughs:
so we have me, aka plug head and my husband aka plug face..LMAO a match made in heaven:laughs:
crashfromamesbury 06-11-2004, 03:37 PM yeah.. i pulled a googan move and lipped a snapper blue... luckily the old salt next to me grabbed the fish before it started flippin around.. that was the last time i ever lip a blue.. lol
hooks in hands, too many to count..
i did see a guy with a bomber stuck in his ear... that must have hurt like hell... he was feelin no pain though from the amount of empty cans in his cooler.. i saw that and i gave up fishing that beach.. too many googans there.. at all costs avoid plum island.. especially during the daylight..

BigMike 06-11-2004, 05:28 PM Last summer I was out in the boat with a few youngin's. They were catching dogfish left and right, and yours truly was the one taking them off the hook. One kid hooked a huge dog in the fin, and it was so wrapped up in the line that I decided to cut it... stupid me didn't think to open the bale, so the rod was fully loaded up. When I cut the line, the barrel swivl shot at my face and shattered my (glass) sunglasses, leaving glass all over my face... gave me a good excuse to pick up some Costa Del Mars tho:angel:
Tagger 06-11-2004, 09:11 PM hit my finger with a hammer once.. stuck a Mustad 7/0 bronzed, forged, hook through my finger nail (on purpose)and had blood squirt out of it ... felt good .. :smash:
