I picked up this reel during the winter and i got it cheap.... like $40 dollars shipped cheap... neways... been using it for a week now and it's spooled with PowerPro 50 and i can honestly say that i'm buying my dad and my brother each one... I dipped it once maybe i got lucky but it still turns silky smooth... used it on monday, wednesday( dipped in the surf), saturday.. got it's first freshwater rinse saturday too....
also on saturday i caught about 20 blues about 4-10lbs each... the reel's drag was perfect each time.. there was absoutly no frame flex at all... line laying... perfect each and every cast.. except when i started to throw out a jointed bomber.. thats when i ran across my first loop in the spool... i'm pretty sure the lure was under an ounce... but i was mostly using 1-1/2 - 3-1/2oz plugs with out issue....
The bail uses a new bail system that eliminates accidental closure..
My only gripe with the reel is the bail is hard to close by rotating the handle if the handle is at the bail closing position.. but that may also be me as i'm still healing from surgery back on May 3rd...
