Bill, didn't you mean "YOUR ROCK"

10. Coming to a spot and finding a ton of people

9. Excessive weeds

8. No Parking

7. Individuals bearing guns

6. no wind, glass surface, lobster traps where you would normally cast

5. Boats dragging away the bait

4. Hypodermic needles

3. Lawn Chairs (Occupied)

2. Large gangs of "Fishermen" walking out to the end of a jetty smoking dope, with a huge cooler filled with beer and playing loud tunes (not that these are all bad, but not while fishing )

1. Excessive trash, line, crap or anything thats not supposed to be on a beach at night!!!

Lightning

A line of Lunker Lights stretched across the hole I wanted to throw an eel into.

A truck lit up like a Christmas tree approaching the break in the dunes from the back trail to the front beach.

A pair of eyes reflecting my flashlight beam when I'm walking a dark trail to the water at the Canal or the Vineyard.

Yo-yos who sneak up on you and say "Hey, catching anything??" at the top of their lungs when you least expect it.

2" stubs where a live eel writhed 30 seconds before.

A bluefish attached to all 3 treble hooks of a plug.

As far as skunks go, seeing them near the water is a good thing a lot of times--sometimes it means that bait just got driven up by a school of fish--that's how some of the old-times on the Vineyard found fish at night, looking for skunks eating sand eels at the water line. But these days, often it just means that some slob left a pile of garbage behind

Definitely tons of people on the spot. Gives you a sinking feeling when you show up and the place is mobbed.

Part of it is knowing that you won't be able to fish the spot the way you want...Part of that results from past experience with the lack of "etiquette" often displayed by others. I hate when I catch a fish and everyone in the area is suddenly casting on top of my line.

But the biggest reason is that I fish to get away from crowds. I like the quiet and solitude. Not to say I don't like fishing with friends, I certainly do, but I think that has to be my biggest dread while heading to a spot.

Of course, its been more of what I haven't seen lately... FISH! Definitely in a mid-season slump.

I think I would have to agree with many of the above!!! Especially the skunks, "Chistmas tree trucks", and the trash some people leave behind!! It truly amazes me how some people can just leave their garbage everywhere!!!
The one thing that I hate to see the most is discarded, filleted carcasses. ESPECIALLY from illegal sizes striped bass!!!! (well the skunks too I suppose!)

The #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& coming off the beach as I'm walking on because I know there are either no fish to be
found or they were all just caught!
