View Full Version : Boston Harbor
GregK 06-23-2004, 08:28 AM Is it slooooooow or is it me? I've been out early morning, midday and at night and haven't caught a thing. Although I love it out on the water, I want a fish. Last year at this time I'd be into them big time, this year just seems slow and the fish seem finicky.
If anyone is catching fish in the harbah I'd love to hear from you.
WLaMarr 06-23-2004, 08:54 AM Had a lot of luck with cod weeks ago, but haven't had much bass success yet. Only been out twice in the last month so far. The first trip we pulled up one short trolling an umbrella. Second trip pulled two shorts out of the very tail end of a frenzy (got there just too late). However. These are the only bass I have seen in the last month. Like I said, only been out twice, but only saw the three shorts. It seems pretty slow to me. Have my favorite spots and times, so maybe I need to mix it up a little.
maldito 06-23-2004, 11:23 AM I was there at night a couple of days ago and only managed to catch a couple of schoolies on white storm chad!
WLaMarr 06-23-2004, 11:48 AM A couple of old timers told me it is the frequent rain as of late. They said the bass hate that layer of fresh water on top and stay out in deeper water. Don't know if this has any validity to it, but the guys that told me have been at this a lot longer than I have.
BasicPatrick 06-23-2004, 11:49 AM Boat fishing the Harbor is very good right now if you are willing to work hard...
Every year after the Macs leave people start talking about the fishing being slow...Bottom line is that the Mac run has spoiled us and made us LAZY...Just move on to techniques and spots that have worked after the Macs before and you will be catching fish
From Shore it is ok...try South of the Harbor Proper
Stamas25 06-23-2004, 12:20 PM Shore fishing south of boston has been slow this past week...waiting for that full moon next month to heat up the action.
Phestaris 06-23-2004, 02:15 PM How can someone fish 2 or three times in a month and say fishing is slow. If you want to catch fish you need to get your line in the water. Shut off the computer and go fishing!
Successful fisherman (ie guys that consistantly catch fish ) fish all the time.
We fish in Boston Harbor and catch fish most trips no more than fifteen minutes from the slip. We fish at least 4 nights a week. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck ----- Get Off The Couch!
thefishingfreak 06-23-2004, 05:16 PM the bass are out there! tons of them.
the harbor, and outter harbor is loaded with fish.
we landed over 50 bass on saturday, although not the tourney winners we were hopeing for, but we nailed them.
sunday morning we caught another 20 in under 1/2 hour{with a blown motor to boot}.almost all the fish were over 30" to 38"multiple tripple hook ups. you couldn't get a bait down fast enough.
all the while the guys on the radio were complaning there getting skunked all morning,,so what do they do differently???? ,,nothing,. they sit on anchor, in the same spot, and wait to get skunked some more. then they come up with lines like "the bite is off today". the bite is never off!
time to switch it up and figgure out where the fish are stacked up.
:hidin:
GregK 06-24-2004, 07:25 AM Phestaris, I hope you weren't referring to me? I put my time in. I've been out on the harbor more than 2 times a month. I've been fishing the harbor for years. I was just trying to find out if other's were experiencing the same feeling I was. I know I'll catch my share but was just looking for some feed back.
Phestaris 06-25-2004, 03:29 PM No Greg just an observation nothing personal. Guys at my marina are saying its slow also - and I rarely see their boats leave the dock! Good luck!
Phestaris 06-25-2004, 03:49 PM One of a few nice ones from last night. BTW we didn't catch it here we just drove over for the photo shoot!
