I have a gibbs swimmer, white with a red head. I didnt have much confidence in the colors so i painted it using instructions from this board. Made in into a strange mackrel type thing. Black with green stripes, left the red head on it thouh. Got a 12 pound blue on the first cast. I coudnt find an epoxy for it so i used a spray enamel. Will that stuff work? I put on two coats of it. Any clue as to where i can get the epoxy, and is it spray or brush on stuff? I checked wally world, a hobby shop and the local hardware store. Thanks for any help. I can see why there are so many people using this board, plug working is fun stuff, and the satisfaction of catchig on something ya painted/made is a great feeling. I can just see the receipts piling up if i get into the making process.

Rob,

For the epoxy finish, you can use either Envirotex (it a bar top finish) or Devcon 2-Ton Epoxy (it's in the syring tubes with the other adhesives). Both of these should be available at craft stores like AC Moores or Michaels. I've also seen the Envirotex in ACE Hardware. The Devcon should be available almost anywhere they sell epoxies.

Rob, Michaels has a 40% off coupon each week where you can get a good deal on the environtex. If your just starting out you can get the small size for around $9 on sale.
Have fun.:D

Envirotex it is. I picked up the plug today and the paint was smudging, i let the paint dry for 24 hours before i applied the enamel. The enamel dried for bout 24 hours as well. The enamel was obviouslty a poor choice. How long should the envirotex dry before fishing? Thanks again.

I would wait about 48 hours after the application.
