He's a hurting man.
We were jigging the Canal on an all nighter last night and he took a wicked fall on the rocks(he's OK, a little bloodied) and shattered his 1205 Arra. That rod was his baby. He's not a happy camper. He now has a $300 tomato plant stake.:smash:

That's bad luck. Everyone falls there from time to time but this sounds like a big boom!

To me , caution while walking on that rubbly rip wrap is a top priority. Get down on your but and saddle along if you have to but be very carefull , especially where the rocks are darker and slipperier and where the bubble weed grows.

Thanks Guy's!

Valuable lesson learned!! Much more cost effective to just break off the jig on the bottom than to walk along the slippery rocks trying to get it to dislodge from the bottom!

I guess I will just build myself a 120 1M to replace it?

Anyone for a collection?:D

count your blessing's,,,it could have been a broken arm or leg,,,took me a month to get a rock de-wedged from my back side the last time,,,this is why I tie a pillow around my butt when I go there...hope ya boo-boo's heal fast.

The one time I took a bad on on the rocks (here on LI, not the Canal) I had the presence of mind to raise my rod over my head and take the full impact on my ribs

I tell people they're better off climbing up to the service road and breaking off there. Just something to consider for the future ;)

Hate to say it, but the 120 1M won't survive a major impact with a rock, either. Can't beat glass for the rocks. SB 121 3M would be my choice.

What did I tell ya today Russ :btu: All my big fish on the 1213M

Man, Russ, I feel your pain - I said in an earlier thread walking on that small rip-rap at the Ditch Saturday was like balancing a Bongo Board on broken bricks -

Taking a digger on that stuff ain't fun, I know - that stuff is exactly like the short rip-rap on Newport's Cliff Walk - ya gotta kind of guesstimate the relative size and shape of the rocks and then step slowly to figure out if it's gonna buck you off when it shifts.

Been walking on that crap since I was a kid - and I've got the scars to prove it too.

Broken Arra :hs: - I guess it coulda been worse, like arm or leg.

Hope you're feeling better.

Were you wearing korkers?

For mostly 2 to 4 OZ Allstar 1208. For 3 to 6 , Allstar 1209.

If you save some money , another Arra 1205 or even better , a Ziplex Sea Raider 2.

I hate to see you select a rod based on whether it will break if you fall down!

Sorry for your loss. The rocks there are brutal and unforgiving.

Well, the replacement for my busted 1205 is turning on the dryer at Fishaholic's house as I type!

Had a couple of Batson SW 1209's in the basement so said what the heck!! Wrapped it spiral to boot!!

We kicked this one out in under 5hrs! Getting quicker with every rod!! And Gudebrod 206 looks sweet without color preserver on a black gloss blank!!!

Korkers at the Ditch for me from now on, no matter how stupid I look. Better than tying a pillow to my a$$
