View Full Version : 10ƌ custom breakaway surf rod"new"
striperman 05-22-2000, 06:14 PM I am selling a brand new 10' 6 custom made Breakaway surf rod made at Hatteras Jacks. It is a 2 piece casting rod rated for 2-5 ounces. The rod has fuji alconite guides. It has a metallic blue underwrap, royal blue overwrap, and gold trim. It is the nicest rod I have ever seen. It also features a decal of a striper. I bought the rod for $285 dollars but will sell for less. I have posted my rod on e-bay as well. So if you're interested go and bid there. Type in 10 ft 6 Breakaway and it will come up. My reserve price, or lowest selling price, is 210.00, but the final price all depends on the bids. I haven't recieved any bids yet, so anyone interested should contact me quickly and I will take it off ebay. I am asking 240.00 for anyone interested in going about it this way. I am also able to negotiate. Once again this is a very nice rod, but a bit to light for me.
surfmaster 06-18-2000, 07:09 PM I have heard hatteras jacks makes good rods. I was thinking about purchasing one. I wouldn't mine purchasing yours, but it is a little bit out of my budget. Could you lower the price to say about $210 or around there.
Hope to hear from you soon, Stanly
JohnR 06-19-2000, 07:19 AM Surfmaster, Surf+Rat, whatever you're calling yourself these days.... Going for another gut hook?
Striperman, it's your old buddy Surf+Rat and he may be trying to slam you again on another rod, same IP network stuff as the last time when Surf+Rat strung you along...
striperman 06-19-2000, 09:33 AM Thanks John R for the investigation. Do you think this is really surf+rat? All this fellow does is harass people. He has done this to me on numerous occassions, gets my hopes up, then I find out it's a joke. Quite frankly, I've had enough. The guy deserves a frozen mackeral straight up the a$$o.
JohnR 06-19-2000, 10:54 AM Yeh, it's the same guy. Same IP address as the last time.
Last shot surf+rat, come clean?
striperman 06-19-2000, 11:05 AM Thanks again John R. You the best information giver and most knowledgable fisheerman on the site. Or at least it appears that way to me. Sorry about the language but this guy is really pissing me off!
striperman 06-19-2000, 12:00 PM forgot #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. U and #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& are the most knowledgable. just wanted to give credit where it is due. sorry #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. anyway, whats up with the Ask #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& section. haven't seen a post there for awhile. maybe i'll put one in
JohnR 06-19-2000, 01:52 PM Thanks for the vote of confidence Striperman. There are alot of knowledgeable guys and gals that come through here and post good info, many more knowledgable than I am. A few incredibly knowledgeable people like Bill "#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" Nolan, Fisherwoman and Baitcaster (Bill and Jul's), I have fished with and learned alot from, especially having fished three years now with #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. Other people that I have not fished with yet (and hopefully soon will) but have known for a while now, online or in person, are people like Mike form CCtackle, Mike P, Saltheart, John M, Mike F, Roland and "Squidmama" (best name I think I've ever heard ), and others just to name a few. These are the Sharpies. Some specialize in different areas as you have your distance casters and your Canal jiggers to your light tackle people to you name it. I joke when I say that Nolan is master of all things surf but he consistantly gets more fish, bigger fish, more consistantly than anyone I have ever seen with my own eyes.
Alot of you we are meeting online for the first time and I would like the opportunity to fish with you as well... Hopefully, near summers end, we will try to plan out a trip to some exotic striper spot and meet up with a few of you. Trying now to figure out a where and when...
I am a relative rookie in comparison to alot the people that come to these boards but I intend to be very good in the future. I'd rate myself as OK at this point but alot of these people above have some serious time plying the surf... I am trying to provide this little corner of the web available to all interested in the art of striped bass so we all can learn. I'll gladly pass along what I know (which five years ago could be written in grease pencil on the inside of a matchbook cover) to help people but I still give my kudos to the hundreds of years of combined experience to those people above.
JohnR 06-19-2000, 02:01 PM Oh Yeah, A little note for Surfmaster, aka surf+rat;
Last time you played someone along for fun. Hopefully this time was legit. Please post if so and work with striperman on his rod. I know the quality of work that goes into those rods, I have seen them and I am impressed. When you posted last time as Surf+Rat, maybe you pitched the rod for him with good intentions but it did not come out this way. Posting this time under a different name doing the same thing to the same guy could be construed as another tweak. IP #s are tracked on this site, and this helps clarify if someone has spoofed under someone else's name. I do not want to run a mandatory sign in for people, its encouraged but under no means necessary. Just want to keep the site honest. Hopefully you were being legit with Striperman.
Please state what your intentions were.
Thanks,
John
striperman 06-19-2000, 02:10 PM Don't worry John. Surf+rat does this every once in a while. He is a good freind of mine and is getting me back on a prior prank. We both just want it to seem like we are really pissed off at each other and we get a few laughs out of it. It's all fun and games.
JohnR 06-19-2000, 03:13 PM String me along too you rat bast#$% .... striperman, stripersurf, gusto....
striperman 06-20-2000, 09:32 AM I admit John I do use more than one Nick Name. The only reason is I don't want everybody gettin' pissed of f because I have so many topics on the board. I just have so many questions to ask. Now that u know don't tell anyone else. Thanks, derek
JohnR 06-20-2000, 09:03 PM We'll keep it a secret...
