Well I could have been, but nobody was around this morning to hear me, not even BC who pulled a no-show (had last minute clients). Hope they had some good rain gear :). Man didn't it rain this morning, I've got to get me a new pair of boots, sneekers just don't cut it in a torrential downpour that lasts for hours.

Didn't catch a ton of fish, but the 15-20 I tangled with today were bigger than average and I caught them in shallow water which makes the fight a little sweeter. Put a couple mid teens and also a pair of mid 20's over the side for a quick digital weight before releasing.

Damn friggen blues, not even big ones little 5-8 lb rat bastards, were just driving me nuts. Every eel became a bluefish snack and I had a half dozen breakoffs on the plastic. I hate it when they come shallow and mix in with the bass, because you don't want to screw up the presentation with a wire leader, but if you don't you pay the price.

The skinny water fish (5-7 foot rocky shoreline) I got into at the end of the day, along with the surreal look of the ocean as the rain almost flattened it out as it came down in buckets, made for a very interesting end of the day. I wrestled with a 15 lber, that almost got me as wet as the storm, fought like a fish twice it's size.

How did those titanium leaders work out? You mentioned earlier in the season that you were trying them out.

Are they more flexible and thinner in diameter? Are they a bit better for your plastics...

Oh sure, the bass bite picks up a bit and you turn your back on the bluefish :)

SM those leaders are the balls, but a bit pricey at $6.99 each, yup that's each. But the one I fished all spring for the Cotuit blues still looks like it's never seen the water. That's probably 40+ blues on a single leader, so they work great. I'm going to spend the money and get me 2 more and I will guard them closely. I almost put the damn thing on Sunday, but I hate to do it, because let's face it a flurocarbon leader is the way to go. I'll jump on the bluefish bandwagon as soon as they go on their fall rampage and start busting on top all day long :).

My 3 best days have been fishing in the rain and I to was alone for most of it. My 3 largest fish this year were caught on those days. It is surposed to rain this Friday, guess where I will be after work and the tide is perfect too. I can't wait, my death staff is ready for another LARGE!

Rain, or what it brings (overcast), can be a good thing, but the other thing it sometimes brings will keep me off the water: lightening. Graphite fishing rods don't mix will on a wide open ocean, with no cover in sight.

Looks like this weekend is going to be another rainy one, so I've got to go get me some boots. I don't think my sneekers have dried out yet :(. I also need to figure out what's up with the GPS. Weird because it wouldn't come on Sunday, yet it shares the same power supply as the depth finder, which was working fine. Today I threw a set of AA batteries in it, which I haven't used since I hard wired it's harness and it worked fine. Maybe something to do with the male/female plug in, aren't electronics fun :(.

I hope you put an inline fuse when you hard wired that GPS unit. Especially if it is the same battery you start your motor with.

Oh yeah, the electronics all have inline fuses and ironically the Lorrance cable was new this spring. I've got to look at the male/female connections on the cable/gps unit to see if something looks wrong. If the new batterys installed power it right up, I have to believe it's a problem with the cable. I say that because the depth finder is on that same circuit and it ran fine. Saltwater and electronics are like oil and water :(.

If you have access to a volt meter hook up the meter to one side and the battery the other. you should see 12Vdc if not you have a bad cable. OR Then wiggle the wires and watch the meter if the voltage fluctuates then you definetly have a bad cable if it stays rock solid on 12v then its not the cable. Hope it helps.
