Here is a question I would like some serious opinions on. I was planning all week to go out in the harbor tonight. Last night of course there was rain and a pretty good water temp drop (63.5F to 59.5 F). My question is, what are my chances tonight? On reflection it sounds like last night was the time to go. I know that any time fishing is better than any time doing anything else, but are my chances greatly diminished tonight because of the weather?
Of course, when I think about it, I would rather be fishing tongiht than not fishing tonight. : )

i haven't been out in a week{boat blew up} but i know there's tons of fish in the harbor.
there should be the every night blitz before sunset, arround lower middle/deer island/airport area.
or you could troll tube and worms along the airport flats, fawn bar, or any of the islands.
good luck.

thanks for the encouragement. I think it has the chance to be a good night as well. I was just wondering if anyone had a general feeling about the day after a rain storm and temp drop. it may be an old wives tale, but I heard this puts a damper on the fishing for at least a day.

I caught some nice fish this morning. Same places as FF mentioned have been good all week. I caught a couple 38" fish and lost a monster after a ten minute battle, probably the best I've had on all year. Good Luck. Go low, Go slow!!

thanks for all the advice guys. went out last night. was on the water from 7pm - 1am. caught a half a dozen shorts trolling an umbrella in the lower middle. then we trolled and chunked around the DI area, but only managed a handful of shorts (and some cod, go figure). one problem is that the slowest my buddies boat goes is ~7 mph. I am assuming this is too fast for trolling the tube 'n' worm. What is the best trolling speed for tube 'n' worm? If the answer is "as slow as you can", then is 7 mph too fast? Thanks again.

yes 7mph is way to fast, go as slow as you can go.
I'd guess pulling into a dock or trailer is alot of in and out of gear.

Yep, pulling into the dock isn't fun for me; but my buddy drives (his boat) and he has a way with it. : )
