View Full Version : The Sox are done!!!
Raider Ronnie 07-03-2004, 06:34 AM I have to admit,
I fell into the big Red Sox trap before this baseball season,
With the additions they made in the off season and with what Should have been the BEST starting pitching staf in baseball,
and the lack of quality starting pitching the Yanyees should have had so far:confused:
I though for sure the Sox would win their division easily!!!
Oh well........................................:laugh s:

beachwalker 07-03-2004, 06:52 AM Holy shiite and it isn't even the allstar break
You guys are hurt :laughs:
BigFish 07-03-2004, 07:00 AM Yup! Stick a fork in me too.....they downright blow! Francona will be gone end of season in my opinion....may be a little premature but with this payroll and a limited amount of time to make it pay off......the management team will not be screwing around! (Especially if Lou Pinella is available):D
Did I just hear someone kick-off!:D
spence 07-03-2004, 07:24 AM I thought the last Yankeez game was rock bottom. This is awful...
-spence
afterhours 07-03-2004, 08:28 AM yeah, and the braves game was under the rock.
28inches 07-03-2004, 03:29 PM Come on!!...what are you guys, French? You can't surrender this soon. Your season ain't over yet. Well, maybe it is, but it won't be as much fun bashing you guys if you just quit. I want you guys to start rooting again. Don't worry about the curse; it's probably nonsense anyway, right? It's been 85 years...you guys are way overdue. Look how good you look on paper....Now go have a cold beer on me, rent the 1918 highlight video and COWBOY UP!!
It ain't over till it's over. (but the smart $$'s on the Yankees...again):laughs:
spence 07-03-2004, 04:11 PM I definately think this is their year
-spence
afterhours 07-03-2004, 04:31 PM maybe they could rid themselves of their demons by burying their bats and gloves(and maybe a player or two) somewhere in center field, shave thier heads( with the exception of nomahhh), and chant mantras.
28inches 07-03-2004, 09:44 PM They'd be better off if they buried Jeter and Mo.
Squid kids Dad 07-04-2004, 12:28 AM ?????????
BigFish 07-04-2004, 07:35 PM Yeah, that was a great freakin' game today!!!!!:af: Man, they suck!:smash:
afterhours 07-04-2004, 07:50 PM they can't possibly be this bad, can they? i've never been about to raise the flag this early.:crying:
BigFish 07-04-2004, 07:52 PM Wave it my friend.....they are so done! Francona should be replaced over the all-star break with a temporary.......unless they can get a good man in there at this time of the season......Pinella should be available at seasons end! Francona has no balls!:smash:
Squid kids Dad 07-04-2004, 08:11 PM NO FAITH !!!!!!!!!:smash: :smash:
BigFish 07-05-2004, 06:32 AM None....zero....bupkus! I am gonna let guys like you wave the pom poms until your arms get tired and you realize that this team is "well done"!:smash:
Goose 07-05-2004, 07:09 AM Last year wheren't they like 7 1/2 games behind the yanks around this time? Come now have some faith.
BigFish 07-05-2004, 07:25 AM There you go SKD.....another pom pom waver for the ranks!;) Did you guys grow up here in Boston or are you new in town?:smash: Seen this too many times myself......growing tired of the Red Sox and baseball in general!:af:
afterhours 07-05-2004, 07:50 AM i hate to give up more than anybody! it's just that i see no life, emotion, or will to win with this edition. i've followed them my whole life and i just don't have a good feeling about these guys. i sure hope to hell that they prove me wrong!
Goose 07-05-2004, 09:06 AM What made winning the superbowl or any game that you sit through where the team your routing for seems to be blown out(or underdog) comes back in the end..... OH SO DAM SWEET VICTORY! Then you meet your bud's..... and they stopped watching hours ago. I luv rubbing it in. Of course its so easy to jump on the wagon, buy a hat and t-shirt, and call your self a die hard NewEngland fan.
.............isn't this part of the reason why sox nation(USA...literialy) is what it is..... have faith, even in defeat, it feels good to route for the good guys $NOT$THE$EVIL$EMPIRE$.
How many times have you said one more cast.....and that cast was a sweet big bass? It doesn't happen that often but it does happen.
28inches 07-05-2004, 09:36 AM Redsox Nation is a myth created and perpetuated by a few highly visible Boston journalists, politicians and Hollywood types. It is 100% media hype, except for the New England region. Don't believe me? Check other regional newspapers, media outlets, on-line sports venues, etc. You won't see or hear a word unless they're playing the Yankees, or it's September and they're close. Then you see the same old farts come out of the woodwork all over TV and hear the same old, pathetic, wornout BS about long-suffering Bosox fans, yada, yada, yada. It's all very stale, lame and played out.
afterhours 07-05-2004, 09:47 AM myth? why is it that at every away game i watch(all of them) i see and hear MANY sox fans? are they just perpetuating the myth?
28inches 07-05-2004, 10:03 AM MANY fans? They're transplanted New Englanders. And people looking for face time on tv.
beachwalker 07-05-2004, 10:28 AM I kind of agree. I just wish the Sox media, fans, players would just lighten up a bit on themselves and grit it out and play hard. Accept that when you do that, it doesn't guarantee that you are gonna win. Sports and entertainment are part of the TV sports package and it is a shame that all this swagger and posturing is a friggin act that is being exploited.
You have to keep gritting down and stop pointing so many fingers and BE Patient, etc. Influences such as wagging tongues and showboating (loss of focus) royally screw some games through errors and incorrect managerial decisions.
The Sox are a quality ball club with a long history, I personally would like to see them turn it around have a WS winning season. Put all the bull#^&#^&#^&#^& to rest. Applaud the season, the players, the coaches and the fans. You guys definetly deserve it.
It isn't easy to win a WS and you guys know that yes, it takes some hatred of other teams to keep the focus and assist in the grit of the game, and that is large part of the big picture of winning it all.
The Sox better be learning. There is a ton of baseball left (85ish games).
Don't forget to keep your eye on Tampa bay :laughs:
We have 7 or 8 games against them in the next month and so do you.
Some great ballgames being played lately. Yankees have to pcik it up and use the experience in their favor. Got lucky again. Divisional competition getting mostly beat while they lost. All about numbers.
:( :(
we gotta do better than that. Mets can hit the long ball baby.
BigFish 07-05-2004, 10:30 AM I for one am about ready to cancell my Red Sox "Fan For Life" membership card.......just can't take it anymore! The fragile egos of these multi-million dollar, overpaid pains in my a$$ has me at my wits end!:af: Let me tell you, when I was a kid, it was alot easier to enjoy the purity of the game of baseball because all we cared about was what was going on between the lines!!!! Nobody knew or cared about a players off field shenanigans (not that many of them had any). Thier family situations or contract negotiations........nobody heard any of that crap.......it is all wearing me down and I could really care less.......if they won the championship this year or not......I probably will not really give a crap one way or the other!!!!:af: The game just ain't the same!:smash:
28inches 07-05-2004, 10:42 AM BF, I couldn't agree more. typical examples last week at the Stadium: nomar sitting on the bench while his teammates were on the top step of the dugout, and jackass Manny with water cups taped to his ears egging on Yankee fans. Too many pouting, selfish, look-at-me, low-class players in all sports today.
BigFish 07-05-2004, 01:39 PM Amen brother!;)
Squid kids Dad 07-05-2004, 01:45 PM BF,,I am a 48 year old fan..Always lived around here...They do it to us every year..They always seem to suck part of the year and then turn it on..I guess me & Goose will be the only ones waving the pom poms,,,:bounce: ..GO RED SOX :D
Of to the Canal to fish in the rain...
BigFish 07-05-2004, 04:44 PM Hope you hooked up SKD....problem is when the Sox are hot its the start of the season and then they can't keep up the pace and they slide! The old saying goes, "It ain't how you start, its how you finish!". I guess we will have to wait and see how much gas they got left in the tank!
afterhours 07-05-2004, 06:18 PM good news! red sox didn't lose today!
Squid kids Dad 07-05-2004, 07:40 PM LOL..afterhours..,,,BF ...They usually have a goodspurt then a bad one,,,And then a good run ...One of these years its gotta come togeather...Remember only half the season is gone...I know its not likely but why cant the Scankyees have a bad 2nd half..:wall: ..Its going to happen sooner or later,,The odds are with the Red Sox..:soon:  LOL
P.S..Didn't hook up at the canal but thankfully had the rain gear..
Slipknot 07-05-2004, 08:45 PM Patriots will be going thru Oakland to get their 3rd championship in 4 years, who cares about the Sox:p

BigFish 07-06-2004, 06:25 AM Oh, those Raiders fans......when will they admit that the Patriots time has come! Poor, poor Raider Ron......a Raider fan and yet he lives close enough to the Pats home stadium that he can hear them polishing those Championship rings...... bring on football season!:D
afterhours 07-06-2004, 06:55 AM ronnie, what's the faiders average age this coming season? seems like they only sign the geritol crowd. they'll be out of gas in december.
BigFish 07-06-2004, 07:16 AM :hidin:

beachwalker 07-06-2004, 05:31 PM ya. bring it on :D
afterhours 07-06-2004, 05:37 PM i'd wager plugs, beer, or $$$ that the pats go deeper in playoffs than the faiders.
BigFish 07-06-2004, 07:43 PM You got a bet.....$20.00 Pats go farther than the Raiders!:D

Black and silver? If I have to I guess I will!;)
beachwalker 07-08-2004, 09:09 AM you see Bigfish, it ain't so bad :)
Best of luck. I think this season is gonna turn out just fine for the Sox.
Squid kids Dad 07-08-2004, 01:25 PM I have a few more sets of pom poms if anyone is interested,,:laughs: :laughs:
BigFish 07-08-2004, 01:31 PM If we get Johnson, can I pick up some pretty pink ones?
28inches 07-08-2004, 02:02 PM The Grady Little Era was the good-old days for you guys. Wait 'till last year. :laughs:

wrong quote! mistake!! senility!
mean't to quote SKD!!!!!!!!!!!
Squid kids Dad 07-08-2004, 04:56 PM BF...The pink ones are all yours :laughs:
Raider Ronnie 07-08-2004, 08:55 PM Holy Cow!!!
The sox are on a tare!!! Are they playing good or are The A's that bad? Maybe they just can't match up with National league teams!!!
I think the Randy Johnson rumor is a LONG shot!!!
The guy wants to stay on the west coast, so the Angles are the most likely team he will go to and he has a no trade clause.
The Bost Herald reported a possible 3 way trade including Nomar.
Squid kids Dad 07-08-2004, 09:44 PM YIKES...WOW..What a game :) Or better than that, what an ending..
afterhours 07-09-2004, 07:24 AM don't know if it's a coincedent or not, but they,ve (for the most ) got their starting nine healthy and up to speed.
BigFish 07-09-2004, 08:48 AM You people are so fickle and so easily fooled!!!! Oh, look....the Red Sox are winning again.....wooohooooo....... .....they win a few games in a row and you are once again ready to order the Championship rings! You are just setting yourself up for the yearly let down.......hey, the rollercoaster ride is leaving....hurry you don't want to miss it!:smash:
afterhours 07-09-2004, 08:55 AM just making an observation, i remain
SKEPTICAL. not ordering rings, would'nt do that until DAY AFTER it's over! been a fan over 40 yrs and know better.
BigFish 07-09-2004, 09:00 AM ;)
Squid kids Dad 07-09-2004, 09:31 AM Not fickled...Just enjoying the games BF..Dont think anyone mentioned buying rings..
Hve you noticed how your favorite player has been doing lately..:D
Squid kids Dad 07-09-2004, 09:33 AM Oops..I forgot..
rah rah rah sis boom bah....
Thats me waving the pom poms...:D
BigFish 07-09-2004, 11:59 AM Oh...geez SKD....he is the absolute best player in the game now.....he has actually played somewhat well, has not had an error and not opened his yap in five games.......lets keep him!:smash: NOT! Ship him out on the next train for a bucket of balls but just get rid of him!
Squid kids Dad 07-09-2004, 03:24 PM  He will be gone :soon: enough..Lets get rid of everyone..What the hell:whackin:
BigFish 07-09-2004, 03:30 PM Sounds like we don't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting Johnson? Reports are that he has no desire to play here. Then on WEEI today they were discussing the fact that Houston is tanking and they may trade Clemens?????? I felt like calling in and informing those idiots that Clemens only came back to play in Houston and would never OK a trade anywhere else.....he would retire first!:smash: (Though I would give my eye teeth and a generous helping of my plugs to see Clemens come pitch here with Schilling and Pedro......but that would be like wishing for the Sox to win a World Championship in my lifetime!!!!! Neither one will ever happen!:(
