Spent the fourth jigging up cod. As always, the wife out did me with a 21 pounder. We took 3 other fish over 15 as well as a few more that filled the box. Question for the cod guys... What is better, cutting a Cod-zilla into steaks or treating it like any other cod and filleting it? If steaks, how do you cut the steaks? Thanks.

How do you steak up a big cod, cut between the rib bones? I have not ever seen it done, so a little clue less... on that anyway.

I've heard the bigger ones called steakers, but I've never seent them cut in to steaks like you see sword fish.

Nice fish, IMO cod is the best tasting fish in the sea.

I don't think you can easily steak a Cod. Their rib bones would make it a pain. I've cleaned a bunch myself and seen 100's more cleaned by mates and they always filet them.

Hi Jim. Gotcha now. That's exactly what I do on the rare occassions that I actually catch a big Cod. After the filet is skinned, I cut it up into portion sized pieces.

Okay, then that is what I have been doing. :D And I do not catch the big cod either, I only get to gaff them for the people I take out. But at least they are in the boat.
