I love the squidder. There are probably lots of folks here that may tell you that if you're gonna cast a convench, start with something other than a squidder. I think starting with a squidder is the right step. My advice would be to spool it with 25# mono and cast heavy lures and weight/bait combos. If you try to go too light with a squid, you're gonna get frustrated fast. If you're getting a new squid with the aluminum spool then you can thumb the flange (inner portion of spool) to slow the spool during the cast rather than thumbing the line itself and smelling the skin burn. ;) Use a conventional rod of 10- 11'. Nothing too whippy. Got to have some backbone here. Caring for a squidder is especially easy because of the one screw "take down" feature. You'll find a small screw-handle side- that says "turn" with an arrow. Loosen the screw and pull it away from the reel with your thumb and index finger and use the rest of your hand to turn the sideplate counterclockwise until the entire assembly comes free. You can do your maintenance-change spools etc. It's simplicity at it's best. Thank you Otto and GOD BLESS YOU. striprman 07-06-2004, 06:51 AM A squidder is a reel that just about everyone has used at some point in their fishing career. Why dont you search "squidder" and see what comes up. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
