HI GUYS, just wanted you to know that I just got off the phone with Ed Jerome, the President of the M.V. Bass and Bluefish Derby. I told him Roland and I want to keep Huff's memory alive during the derby, and of course, always, and that we want to buy an award that will be given out at the awards ceremony in October (and forever after that). He said it was a wonderful idea and they are having a meeting in August & will get back to me as to what type of an award it will be ie. largest albie, etc. I also wanted the award printed in the derby program book, but the books are already printed. So, I'll keep you posted. John, fishing the Mass. Stripe bass derby this weekend?

Sherry, that's a fine idea, I would like to contribute to it in some way. I feel really bad that Huff and I sort of drifted apart--thru no one's fault, just job and family taking up too much of my time--the last few years. I missed him last year at the Vineyard because I stayed outside the campground for the first time. Keep me posted, and maybe I'll see if Brad will donate some plugs for the award, too.

Hi Mike, Roland and I were going to donate a reel this year and every other year. Roland said IF you wanted to contribute, maybe we can also include a rod, annually. I'll leave this up to you and anyone else, that would like to contribute and that would be nice if Brad could donate some plugs I told Ed Jerome I want this to be an annual award. He said no problem. I also wrote Charlie and told her I need a picture of Huff to hang in the weigh station. She should have received the letter today. I am open to suggestions from anyone. We just thought it would be nice to have an award in his memory especially since we attend the awards ceremony every year. Funny story Mike. Last year, as in EVERY year, before Huff would even check nto the Campgrouds, Huff would stop by our house first, have a few drinks and other things and he and I would just laugh and laugh and
laugh. Last year, at our house, he says to me "I can't find my cellular phone" So we looked EVERYWHere. I said, whats the phone # and I'll call it. With our heads INSIDE his truck (of course smelled really pleasant) we're listening to hear his phone ring, NOTHING. 3 days later e calls me to tell me he found it in his bait cooler. LOL

Sherry, let me know if I can do anything to help out. Never knew Huff but I do know how one feels to loose a very close friend.

See ya...

John

Hi Sherry, I just spoke to Brad, he'd be happy to donate some plugs. We'll see what we can come up with for a rod and reel outfit, I was thinking maybe a light bonito set-up---as much as Huff would shudder at that!!

The legendary Huff bait cooler!!! That's how I could always find his truck out on South Beach at night.

Hi Mike, John and Tony, Last night Ed Jerome called me, Pres. of M.V. Bass and Bluefish derby, and said the committee has come up with a "Memorial Award" for Huff. They are going to take all the Grand Leaders,16 of them, put their names in a hat, and have a drawing for that award, all Grand Leaders from the shore. He also said the "Memorial Award" will be printed in the Rules Brochure. Roland and I were so pleased that they came up with this award. He also said we can display his picture either at the awards ceremony or the weigh station, and we are going with the weigh station. Will be in touch
