I'm subbing out my full charters to Steve McKenna....
I'm only going to do the instructional trips...
Steve is a helluva fisherman and I think he will do a great job.

WOW - I whole heartedly, unquestionably concur that Stevie Van Staal is one of the top guys in the surf. A little surprised (OK, not so surprised) to see him guiding :eek5: but he is seriously top-notch!!
Truly the consummate surfcaster

Just ask him to spiel about the Kid & The Corners, The Rock, The Gut... OK, better yet don't :laughs:

BTW - Editors note - Places he may or may not take you are not publishable here on the 'Net :eek5:

Joe - that's good - I think - that the store is going well enough to supplant the guiding... You have great stuff so I'm really not suprised... Good luck!

Steve is right up there to be sure - I'm going to post my Surfmaster profile of him shortly for those who may not have read it...
As for me, I kept doing stuff until everything together added up to a reasonable income...but as things grew it got to the point where it was just too much.
I liked guiding. I met a lot of very nice people and it gave me real insight into what it is like for beginning and intermediate anglers, which in turn helped immeasurably with the writing. Like a lot of things, it was nothing like you envisioned it would be viewed from the outside.
It just got to the point where something had to go and guiding drew the short straw.
