Penfield Reef in Fairfield is a pretty widely known spot. Parking is difficult because the town wants to restrict beach access to non residents but there are a few spots in front of the Sea Grape Cafe. There is also a place called Veterans park a little ways down where you can park. It hasn't really been a hot spot lately but you can pick up a decent bass for the sound now and then.

Other places to fish in the Fairfield Area is the southport and sasco beaches. Some people like West haven sandbar off Westhaven. I've never fished this area though.

Here is what I would do. If you're in the western sound area, check out the yellow pages for a tackleshop. Teds B&T in Bridgeport gets the majority of my business because it's close and they have friendly people. Other shops to check out is John Posh's shop in Stratford named Stratford B&T and Ricky Mola's shop in Norwalk called Fisherman's World. One of these three shops can put you on fish in the Western sound.
