I was given this plug for testing around 3-4 weeks ago by Don from Kings Cove, one of a handful he had in the shop. We threw it out back and it had some nice action, swimming on top, more like a Danny plug than anything else. A quick set and it darts under surface for a wide thumping swim. Real nice I thought..
And its weighty at 2-1/4oz, this swimmer throws better than my old favorite, the Megabait JB150. Its also slightly weighted in the lip and you'll notice the steep angle of it, helping keep it on top. Also the front loop is under the nose, pulling the back in the air on retrieve.
On its first trial it had bass whacking it consistantly like no other lure Ive ever used  Not your usual hit and tug but serious smash and grab runs. Bone jarring hits!! But I figured they were just really hungry :smash: But on every trip since this swimmer has evoked some of the most excited hits on plastic Ive ever had, culminating on Tuesday with 25lb bass literally shooting off bottom and somersaulting through the air in attempts to nab this guy :)
This swimmer has THE BEST action Ive ever used. I dont know what its called or how much they are but Dons got some more coming through soon.
Again, its not my style to go round promoting stuff, but this things too good

very interesting. I have *always* wished for a JB that was over 2 oz. My fav minnow bait is also the megabait jb ( just ordered another doz of them. They do cast better then any lipped plug I have and have great action. I would like get my paws on a few of these.

It looks like a mega bait finish. What is the length?

What is the model?

well whats the make and model

Sandman, the JB 130 is 5 1/2 inches and 1 1/4oz and the JB 150 is 5 3/4 inches and 1 3/4oz.

This swimmer here has a very different action as its slow side to side on top and a slow rolling thump when pulled under

and its probably 6 1/4 inches long

I looks like it has a mega-bait like head to it. I just looked thru the 04 catalog and did not see it. It could be a new SPRO model too

The color is right thats for sure. That gold/black/orange theme has worked really well for me this year.

Don M at Kings Cove has all the info.
As far as the Spro swimmers, I didnt like them at all. They cast horrible and the action always seemed dead when I tried them.

If you like the JB 150's these will knock your socks off

Speaking of JB 150's

when will they make some sturdier ones that can stand up to some nice bass ;)

That baby has been around for a while and looks like it has caught more the just a few fish!

Mine have held up OK but the finish does take a beating. I can normally get about 40 fish on one plug befor tossing it in the scrap heap. that is pretty good for a 9 dollar plug.

Thanks Krispy for the review... thanks Don M for carrying them... :)

I want to go and throw these tonight but my truck has no brakes :af: the towing boats into saltwater has finally taken their toll..

I'm using a dressed Mustad 9510XXXS SS siwash on the rear.. a sampo size 5 SS split ring...(next time i'll get the rosco 5-1/2 SS split rings) with a VMC 3/0 9626PS in the middle...
