The first place I hit lastnight is a beach an hour or so before sundown and was hittin some small blues.Out in the distance I see a windsurfer heading in my general direction and before you know it this guy is beaching his board right where everybody is fishing.Unbelievable.This guy had hundreds of yards of beach to land away from anyone and the walk back to his vehicle would've been the same.Sometimes people just baffle me.

PS.Crafty, the place has become a complete freakin' zoo. There was a boatload of people fishing your spot, though not for Tog.
Looks like its gonna be an early morning or late night spot.

windfags.

oh man Basswipe. Some people are hurt. We windsurf a bit and I posted a picture on another thread of me cruising right in front of a fisherman. He showed up after I had left that beach and when I spoke to him after he was fine with it. Said he saw that I realized he was there and that I didn't then land right on top of him.

Most people don't get it. Bummer.

Check the I.F.G.A. for terminal tackle recommendations when fishing for windsurfers. Always take care to know the rules. I myself have just barely missed out on the 10 pound test record just two years ago for a kayaker due to not following the rules. I am still awaiting word from the I.F.G.A. on the guy I caught at the GUT who was fishing from the back of his Grady White to close to shore. I saved myself a headache by lowering the snap swivel test strength from 60 lb. test to 30 lb. test so I firmly belive I will be awarded that record in the etn pound test category.

And when all else fails load up with any four ounze hopkins or cripple herring and give him a shave. Peace and tight lines.

glad to see that that everyone knows that a 4oz hopkins can multi-task pretty well!

Why waste a perfectly good hopkins/kastmaster that you can catch fish with when you could use a 6oz. sinker? :D

Saw the same thing last week at the mouth of the narrow...yahoo in a jet ski goes flying full-speed into the river, not 25 feet from the shore...with over a dozen guys fishing there :smash:

proper pronunciation Slingah "Ignant"

It is amazing how useless people are. They are banning Kiteboarding all over the place and the Kitefags are all pissed off. What they don't get is all of a sudden the beach has to make room for 120 meter kite lines burning god knows where.

I thought about trying Kiting but it seemed really invasive (and risky at my old age of 40). It just wasn't something that I had the time or money for. Now I gotta listen to the wannabe kite baby's crying over getting kicked off beaches that windsurfers haven't. I, of course, am chuckling to myself. We truly made the effort (for the last 20 years) to show some basic respect for traffic on and off the beach fronts. Kiters have not. Jetskis were banned 10 years ago except for certain areas. And fortunately it is usually a pain in the ass to get thereselves going. Funny how that works....

We are lucky here (Nantucket). Not a lotta of weekend warrior pressure compared to the Cape. Still the same bunch of #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&s. Just less of em.

To bad I am one the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&s :laughs:

post # 2000.

The whole Aquidneck Isle area, not just Newport,is seeing water related recreation pressure like never before. Its becoming a competition. You have more fisherman, swimmers, surfers of all types now including the "Kites".

I can only speak for myself and the other folks I know.We respect others rights to use the water as long as they do so in a lawful manner. What that windsurfer did wasn't illegal just
"ignant" and that is almost as bad.

For as many good people such as the folks here at S-B there now seems to be just as many jackasses out there.Confrontation is inevitable. And this is what leads to the parking bans and closures we as fisherman hate.

Just remember, there's just as many inconsiderate fishermen as there are inconsiderate people in other sports.

I'm gonna slash the tires of the next bicycle ditch fisher that decides he can cast over the top of me from the access road.
