Anyone else fish the outgoing in Boston Harbor last night. We found a big but loose flock of birds close into one of the islands just ebfore high tide. Picked up a couple of schoolies trolling a storm. Then we decided to play the patiece game and anchored up right in front of the rip on DI. Threw eels for the entire outgoing tide, ~8 pm - 12:30 am). Nothing. Got so frustrated that I threw in some clams and seaworms to try and pick up something. I couldn't even get my bait stolen. My buddy did get one eel bitten in half (probably a small blue) early on, but that was it. That's the last time I am gonna sit still in the harbor for a while. Felt like a "fishy" night too. Oh well. Anyone else have luck in the harbor last night?

I wasn't out last night, but was out in the morning. I talked to several people and they all said it was very slow inside and outside the harbor. A good source said things have been real slow the past week or so.

Sounds like there are some people picking up fish, but they are working really hard to get 'em.

I did OK, but not as well as I had been before I was away.

I was able to get some herring and that was the key though I got my biggest fish on a smoke ledgerunner. I picked up six fish, 3 keepers... a barely 28" fish, a 32" and a 40" 22.3#er that made my day.

My fish were all in rocky structure.

The herring were small though and I tried several places for pollock with no luck. Areas I generally can bank on at least nailing some schoolies on light tackle and flies were quiet. Things certainly seemed off.

WLarmarr, the harbor has been a quiet place for a few weeks but the fish are around, definatly not worth setting up some were for a long period of time. try moving around if you don;t get anything in at least an hour in one spot. We have been taking a few fish every day and I do mean few, but all the fish we have been taking are in that keeper size 28 - 34 inches. Instead of bait you may want to try wire and a chartrues parachute jig as that has been the best bet the last couple of weeks. Fish are deep and eating alot of crabs and herring inside the harbor.

Trying to fish bait outside the harbor right now is tough as there are alot of dogfish out there. try trolling deep divers as there are some nice bass outside as well as a few blues!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. When trolling, do you prefer a particular tide? I prefer falling tide at night for bait fishing, but maybe I am just limiting myself.

we were out there.
fished from the airport to deer island with wire and parachutes, got nothing.
went out to the outter islands and scored 1/2 a dozen polack, brought them back to the airport and got 1/2 dozen bass, then went home.

tons of bass in the harbor now, just have to "search" for them.
can't "search" if your anchored up in one spot.

i saw youz guys off deer island light on my way out, and on the way in. little grady white?
that place is no good on a rippin tide,unless your gonna chum heavily, the current is too fast. in either direction.
try the airport flats, and the deep holes close to the long pier and the s/w corner of the airport.
