I just got a penn 6500ss lat week, used it about 4 times, not even hard yet. The problem is when i reel in it makes a clicking noise like when you peddle backwards on your bike. If i switch the anti-reverse lever on the bottom , it doesnt make the noise. What is wrong with it? WHat should i do?

There's nothing wrong with it. It has two anti-reverse switches. The top one switches the reverse itself on and off---the bottom one engages and disengages the clicker, which is what you're hearing.

How come it didnt click when i first got it?? If i flip the anti-reverse switch so it doesnt make the noise the reel cranks both ways. So it has an auto-matic switch too? Im a lil confused.:smash: :smash:

Naw, its the other little lever on the underside of the rotor NOT the one on the back of the reel dude. ;)

OK--the bigger Penn SS reels--6500 to 8500---have two switches for the anti-reverse. The one on the top of the body, at the rear of the reel, engages or disengages the anti-reverse itself. Flipping that switch in one direction will make the handle turn backwards, and in the other one, prevent the handle from turning backwards.
There's another switch, on the bottom of the reel, towards the front, that engages or disengages a clicker. I guess when Penn first designed the reel, they decided to make the clicker feature available for people who wanted to hear that "click, click, click" that older spinning reels make
Turn the rear lever so that the handle doesn't turn backwards. If it makes the clicking noise, reach under the front of the reel and turn the switch there in the opposite direction and the clicking should go away.
