View Full Version : So, How Ya Hittin' Them?
Crafty Angler 07-14-2004, 09:22 PM Just wondering - anybody knockin' 'em dead?
Newport's slow - east wind ain't helping much either although that's gonna change real soon.
Went out last night at *******'*, beeyoootiful white water but a little thin in the large fish dept. There were smaller fish around, the only thing working was an olive/white 2 oz Habs on a slightly faster than usual retrieve - which they seemed to be absolutely nuts about - my personal favorite too :btu:
Anybody doing anything, before or during the easterlies?:confused::huh:
Oh yeah, is anybody else seeing sandeels around? We haven't had them around here like this in many moons...
cheferson 07-14-2004, 09:24 PM I had one right around 30" last night that took the franken eel that was about 2" shorter. And another about 22" that took a scud. The night before i got the skunk.
leptar 07-14-2004, 09:32 PM just came back in from newport area.... nothing but blues... lots of blues.. from 2-10lbs...

beachwalker 07-14-2004, 10:08 PM scrounged up one 30" on a swimmer.

spinncognito 07-15-2004, 05:51 AM I have been doing well at first light up til 7AM in the local harbor. Caught a personal best 41" 26lber this week and have seen similar fish taken as well. So many big fish in the harbor that I have not been able to pry myself away from it to fish my ususal shore spots...

jsullivan 07-15-2004, 08:10 AM surf fishin' sucks right now in a big way 1 or 2 qual /skinny fish here and there. no bunched up cows.
Boat fishin' is great but the fish are fat /short 30 -38" but theres a ton of them. so light tackle boat fishin has been fun
havent been out bass fishing in over a week:crying:
RIROCKHOUND 07-15-2004, 09:29 AM Havent been missing much, threw an hour last night for nada...may head back to the spot of the missing spence tonight around 10-1030 after work....
Krispy 07-15-2004, 09:54 AM not knockin em dead, but left the land of dinks and picked a few nice ones last night
ThrowingTimber 07-15-2004, 11:31 AM No sense chasing dinks the drive isnt worth it right now, working on finishing some plugs for my bags, outfitting the yak, tying up loose ends. When the bigguns arrive, loose ends will have already been tied, yak outfitted and ready to roll and the bags will be full... Oh and the livewell.. definitely have to finish that up ;) Heading out tonight to visit the osprey :D
