View Full Version : Fall tourney dates???
Saltheart 08-21-2001, 08:47 PM Maybe its time we started considering dates for our fall gatherings? One MA , one RI. Getting to be that time. Suggestion Sept 22 weekend MA. Just a month away! Maybe October 14 weekend for RI? Times flying. We got to get something planned.  ;)
Slipknot 08-21-2001, 09:12 PM Sounds good Saltheart !
redcrbbr 08-22-2001, 12:55 AM NOW ..... THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. ANY SATURDAY NIGHT WORKS FOR ME...
Fishpart 08-22-2001, 05:49 AM Gotta visit Mickey Mouse from 22 to 29 September, don't hold back on my account though. The New Moon in October looks good for Rhody.
Can somebody clue me in on these meetings? I would like to attend the RI meeting if possible?
JohnR 08-22-2001, 07:55 AM 179 - we have 4 legs of the tourney - 2 in Mass & 2 in Rhody early season & late - here is a link (http://www.striped-bass.com/sbtourney.shtml) ... There is no leader in the 4 leg and Slipknot leads the Year Round/Ditch fish...
I'm trying to figure out the dates with the wife and see what my schedule is like I'm also trying to fit a weekend at the Vineyard and Pats/Colts in (plus 2 doc appointments and time with my wife and son  )
Saltheart 08-23-2001, 09:37 AM SOL is having a Rhody get together on Sept 28 weekend. I'm hoping to show Tim and Charlie some never named spots so I'd like us to pick a different weekend for ours.
We should at least get a date for the MA leg nailed down soon. We can work out the details later.
STEVE IN MASS 08-23-2001, 09:46 AM Saltheart - The weeks you mentioned just happen to work out for me. The last weekend in September is out for me, going "live" with new software on Octiober 1 and I'll have to work all that weekend, but hopefully they'll let me off on the 22nd, 23rd. By mid October, hopefully the software will be running smoothly, so that should work as well. In fact, we have a support team here from Kentucky from now till about Thanksgiving, and I think one of the guys might be interested in joining us.
Slipknot 08-28-2001, 11:38 AM Well? any word yet? Sept. is around the corner
JohnR 08-28-2001, 12:11 PM OK - tides are:
Sept 15, high tide is roughly around 10:30 pm
Sept 22, high tide is roughly around 3:30 am
Which do you like better for a Mass Leg? And suggestions from people as to where they would like to meet and to fish? For the first leg, we met at Scusset (worked great) and we fished from the Ditch to Chatham, for this leg I'd say Quincy to P-town to Westport...
Comments anyone :D  ;) ??
Saltheart 08-28-2001, 12:18 PM Where are those tide times John? Boston? I would think we should make it anywhere in MA. Just in case some want to fish north of Beantown. Scusset did work out good as a gathering/ barbecue place.
chris L 08-28-2001, 01:21 PM Im game for sept22 as I will be on the cape that weekend anyway also will be there for the first week in Oct . Oct 15th I have to work , so come up with the dates that work best for the majority if I can swing it I will , If not next year !
Fisherwoman 08-28-2001, 01:43 PM Well BC and I will be on MV from Sept 16th to Oct 7th, can I catch a fish on MV and enter it in for the Mass Leg, tehe!!!! Just kidding. Hopefully we could get down to the RI leg, that sounds like a good time and some new fishy spots, maybe get a few albies headed south in the mix.
JohnR 08-28-2001, 02:48 PM YEP - FW, I don't think I'll be popping down to MV this year - too much to do and too little time     ...but maybe, just maybe.... The albies are in the Rhody area now as Clammer said he saw some working mid-bay - I'd love a crack at those :p
Saltheart - those tides are within a half hour from Boston's North Shore to the Back beaches - it get's a little different Monomoy & south...
Slipknot 08-28-2001, 02:50 PM Tide looks good the 15th and I will be on the cape anyway. The 22nd is fine also.
Fisherwoman...technically MV is mass right?? Heh, heh......What do you think of this one...... "sh**- bag-fisher-chicks kick butt in rhody"!!!!!!!!!!!???
Oct sounds good....I might just be able to swing it!
"oh honey......RI for fishi- oops I mean our anniversary??!?"
Saltheart 08-28-2001, 10:17 PM I got no problem with MV being part of MA. If you got another board member with you to witness the fish , I think its fine. The idea is to get people to go fishing together with other board people and have some fun. You might even win a prize at the end of the year if you catch a big one. I do have a problem with getting beat by a girl though so I'll be out there doing my part to make that not happen.
What do you think John?
We should also specify a time table like Friday at noon till Sunday at noon??
If people can make it , we should do it the early weekend so we got time to get the Rhody one in first or second week in October.
Don M 08-29-2001, 01:46 AM Hello all,
Sorry I have not been around...got a bit ill!
Just want to let you all know Charlie and I would like to extend the same offer as the first RI leg. The back yard is at your becon call. If you need anything at all we will help.
John, hope you are feeling better? Please give me a call at the shop over the weekend. I have something I would like to discuss with you. BTW, would you like to have the prize we offered presented to the winner of the RI leg?

JohnR 08-29-2001, 07:32 AM Don - hope your feeling better. I'll get in touch this weekend...
ALSO -- So everyone knows, Don & Weekapaug are heavily involved in the MDA Bass Tourney at the end of October. I'd like to see if we can get some support for that from this site.... I'll have more details on that soon...
FW - Bill, Frank, and brother Mike, Tree Hugger and the Squid Goddess, Topwater & the missus, Bubba, HECK - I'll even include Anchor Joe as an honorary member... Sure - If you want to put together a bass outing on that same night on island, that works for me. Same rules, it's mass (it does need to be from shore though)... No problem from me... DAMN!!! I might just need to, uh, go over there to MV to - eh, officiate things :D :D :D :D :p
chris L 08-29-2001, 07:35 AM Don
I hope all is well now ! your a gentleman and a scholar , just dont tell anyone ! lol
Don M 08-29-2001, 12:58 PM Thanks all:
As for the MDA it will be held the last weekend of October. This is a tournament that was started by Jin McKeough of Pioneer Vally Boat and Surf 10 years ago. It's purpose is to bring togrther Surf Fishing clubs from other areas to pass on information and concerns of their respective areas.
A number of the board members fishing for clubs already attend, I beleive John has particapated for one of the attending clubs. Last year there were clubs from as far away as Delaware and New Jersey.
Maybe the board can enter a team? I will e-mail John a word doc outlining the details.
All proceeds are donated to the MDA in the name of all who particapate.
Fisherwoman 08-29-2001, 02:00 PM JohnR and Saltheart,
That might be kinda cool, we could put a little group together over there and have at it, should be held to shore fishing though, especially over there, but thats up to the rule makers. Maybe you should come over and officiate just in case I get a little pshyco especially with the albie thing, you know how I get.
We are off to tuna fishing at 3 am and I am an obsessed person at the moment having trouble trying to calm the frig down, don't think I will be sleeping much tonight, BRING IT ON!!!!!
Jenn, I think that a great Idea!!!!!!
JohnR 08-29-2001, 02:33 PM Works for me FW - I,uh might have to officiate from the Vineyard.... Nah. I'll probably stay here
FW is 3AM really 3 AM or more like four??? HA!HA!
