View Full Version : Vanstaal
Catch0 07-18-2004, 08:46 PM Its almost definate that im getting a VS100, for very cheep:happy:
What rod should i marry it to,and what line should finish the deal.
It will mostly be a eel and chunking set up. I know its lite for eels and chunks but who cares:rolleyes: I have been looking at some lami's but i dont have the reel in my hands to put it on the rod and get a feel of it.
beachwalker 07-18-2004, 11:00 PM das a lite reela fa baitin :(
Catch0 07-19-2004, 10:43 AM Alright maybe i will use it as my pluggin rod:rolleyes: i dont Know?
fishweewee 07-19-2004, 11:05 AM That's the smallest reel offered. I'd pair it up with a 7-8 foot stick loaded with 14 lb. test Berkley Fireline.
This would be ideal for light tackle - small swimmers, tins, and jigs. I wouldn't go any heavier than 1.5 oz on the lures.

theSURF121 07-19-2004, 04:50 PM Might as well go all out and get an Ara XRA 96. Think they are discontinued but still a few in the field.
Mr. Sandman 07-19-2004, 05:20 PM are the "new" vanstall/zebco's out yet? (seriously)

Scary:eek:
Pete_G 07-19-2004, 08:24 PM First week of August a big box should show up at the Saltwater Edge containing 20+ spin reels plus a few fly reels.
A silver 250 is mine :D , and a few others have deposits on them, but other then that there should be a bunch left for close inspection and/or purchase. All sizes and colors.
Mike P 07-19-2004, 08:29 PM New prices too---all sizes up just about $100 from the last Reel Ventures run of reels :af:
They're at the point where they're close to double what I paid for mine
Roseneath 07-19-2004, 08:47 PM Why Vanstall? Why are they superiour? Or is it supply and demand?
theSURF121 07-19-2004, 10:36 PM Catcho,
Look for a Lami JH81MS. It's a 8ft - 1 piece spinner rated from 1/2 - 2 oz. Picked one up for $89.00 . Such a bargain.
theSURF121 07-19-2004, 10:39 PM Have a few pre Zebco VS's in silver that I thought would be collectors items. Thought wrong again!

WOW, the price went up? I guess they figure with the Saltigas and Stellas encroaching in big $$ they have to step it up a notch. I can't wait to see these reels.
I say, if we could get a Penn 706Z with a great anti-reverse, we would be in good shape!

Yeah, prices have gone up a bit. They're just expensive to make I think.
I guess we can't really hold it against them, if they were making money before maybe they wouldn't have been sold to Zebco.
Mike P 07-20-2004, 12:05 PM Here's the info I received on the new pricing:
vs-100-$569.00
vs-150-$589.00
vs 200-$619.00
vs-250-$649.00
