Spent the weeknd thru Tuesday up in Truro. Arrived about 10:30 and went to Ballston Beach for awhile, waiting to check in. Pretty much mung weed, cleaning the line and lure after every few casts.

Checked in at Seaside Village motel and sent the wife on her way to Head of the Meadow. Went and got bait, and scouted out a few spots. Dinner at the Whitman House, huge disappointment. Thanks, Mr. Motel Keeper for the bum steer.

Early am on Sunday, stopped by head of the Meadow, a few casts with the needlefish, came back slime covered. :(

Headed to Ballston. On the way in, a guy was just coming off the beach. "How's the weed out there?" "Not bad." :), so I gear up and head out. Set up a chunk and cast out. After about 10 minutes the line is drifting south, even though there wasn't much current or surf. Reel in, and spent the next ten minutes stripping the ten pounds of mung off the line. "Not Bad". Yeah right. Tried again and the same things.

Okay, switch gears. Started to throw a rigged eel. Not as bad, but still annoying. Saw one other guy who is a local, he wasn't doing much either. Too bad, the structure, bar, and rip there was perfect.

So now its about 7 am, stop back at the motel to check in with the wife and then head to Race Point. Beat the ranger there so no $7 fee. . Water was clear, chunked and threw the eel for about an hour, but the sun and the heat was coming up so I quit.

Back at the Meadow, I meet the wife to spend some time on the beach. Water there is still full of mung. Swim, then head back to the hotel. Dinner in P-town at the Mews was great.

T-storms Sunday night kept me off the beach. Monday morning it rained till about 9:00. Stayed at the motel, then when the sun came out, sent the wife to the beach and I went and scouted out the Meadow (still weed), Coast Guard Beach (some weed, but not too bad) Real good rip right there but it was taken, so being courteous, I went to Ballston. Water is crystal clear. It's about high tide, but the sun is shinging brightly. Throw the needlefish and some poppers for about an hour with not a bump. Reconned some beaches on the Bay side, stopped and got some smoked bluefish (yum - best I ever had!) and head back to the motel. On the way back I see two people with bicycles stopped on the side of the road, full embrace, lip locked, s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g each others tongue out. I looked closer, and well, you can guess the rest. I mean, to each his own, but what's up guys, in the middle of Route 6?

Screwed around cating lures in the bay right in front of the motel for awhile, then headed to the Beachcomber for dinner with the wife.

Rain and lightening from about 8:30 till midnight on Monday, then it stopped. Got up and hooked up with an old gent staying at the motel. Headed to Ballston, hoping it was still clear. Unfortunately, that was not the case, so we headed to the Race. Chunked and threw the rigged eels, the old gent was "throwing" (okay, he was mostly floating them) live eels. I had three hits right in a row at about 3:30, but no takers. Quit about 7 am, still 0 fer, and it was time to head home :(

All in All, it was mung 1, Steve 0. Even still, I had a good time. Am a bit frustrated, though.

Dont feel so bad.......actually it seems to be a trend for that area and I am not beating myself up like I used to (many others have told me the same) WHEN its hot its hot, but it isnt hot a lot  Quite frankly, I love that area but I am definately dissapointed the past few years...... maybe I am just bitter...

Outer Cape was blazing hot for most of the spring, then seemed to just shut off like a someone flipping a switch.

Tons of weed this summer has really hurt as well. If you don't fish bait(which I don't other than live eels which is similar in lots of ways to plug fishing) then it's been hard to fish much out there since mid-late June. You have to search hard for clean water.

We'll see what the fall brings..hopefully improvement.

Actually, Blitz, I found it easier to throw rigged eels and plugs thru the mung than to bait fish. Since the line is in the water a lot more at one time with bait, it picks up a whole lot more weed. I'd pick up some when throwing the eels, but not nearly as much. There was clean water around (usually mid day), just not at the times that I anted to fish.
