hey ronnie, you really think that the "over the hill team" can make thru the looong schedule? plugs, money, and or beer says they don't go as far as the defending super bowl CHAMPIONS.

Rich Gannon is healthy again????? Ya mean he is in his 40's again, don't you? That team is way too old and tired RR to compete with some of the more explosive, younger teams out there.....Geritol anyone?:laugha:

Its painful for me Ron to watch a friend suffer through this type of delirium.....:smash: its kind of like watching a die-hard Red Sox fan.... never mind......thats another form of delirium you are suffering through!;) :hidin:

I gotta tell you though...marching your kids into Foxboro dressed in Raider colors is tantamount to me marching my sons out surfcasting dressed in ballerina tights!

Any Pats fan MUST know the feeling!!!
Think about it,
Prior to Robert Kraft buying the team,
30 or so years of the Sullivans owning them, they were the L.A. Clippers of the NFL:laughs: :laughs: :laughs:

i think the raiders were a real force in the early to mid '70s. had some tough players.

Larry,
The Raiders have won 3 super bowls and lost 2.
Going back to 1960 they are still the winningest team of all sports, Montreal Canadians and Boston Celtics are a close 2nd and 3rd.
I'm not sure of the number but they have played in By far the most AFC championship games than any other team.

They also, year in year out sell the most NFL items, though the Pats were # 2 this year.
Like I said allready,
You take out the time that Robert Kraft has owned ( and I will admit he has been a great owner so far,
accept the Bill Parcells screw up)
The pats for most of their history, were the Joke of the Nfl, allong with teams like the Saints,Falcons, and Bengals !!!:laughs:

The were a force through the mid 60s through the late 80s
The 60s, you ever hear of the Mad Bomber, Warren Wells,Ben Davidson?

The 70s,
You remeber (The Snake) Kenny Stabler, throwing bombs to Cliff Branch, and the Greatest offensive line ever, and the Greatest defensive back field ever with Jack Tatum, George Atkinson, And Willy Brown

The 80s
We had Jim Plunkett throwing bombs , and Marcus Allen running through the NFL, on his way to the hall of fame !!!
Also had a great defense those years!!!

The 90s weren't so good for them because Al Davis kept moving the team or even threatening to move, but with the way the NFL is run these days and with free agency and the players salarys, even Robert Kraft had to BLUff our state for funds to keep them from moving to St. Louis!!!!

Since the year 1999, they have the best winning percentage of any team also, excluding last year of course;)

Easy there Ron...I can tell you are taking this way too serious. So the Raiders have won 3 and lost 2.....the Pats have won 2 and lost 2.....so what is the difference there???? Only 1 win and we will get that this upcoming season!:D

Raiders can't be the winningest team in sports cause they only play 14-16-18 games in a season! Not going to argue semantics with you there as it is a matter of winning percentage and that is like comparing apples and hand grenades!:smash:

Raider Ronnie
08-01-2004, 06:35 PM
Larry,
I have to totaly disagree with you,
1 win in a football season, when they play only 16 games is MUCH more important that 1 win or loss in a hockey, basketball or baseball season.
Plus, the toll of 1 NFL game on a player is the equal to 1 months of games in say baseball or basketball!

But, I would bet you would love to see youre buddy Nomahhh,
running down to 1st base and get clothes lined by the first baseman like they use to be allowed to do in football:laughs:

I'm not taking this too seriously Larry, Just presenting the facts for you,
You wouldn't want to play NFL trivia with me, !!!

Gotta agree with ya Ron...Football sure is a wee bit tougher than any other sport..Probally why they only play 16 games...I think hockey would probally come in 2nd...

I agree with you 100%.
With the acception of guys like Wayne Gretzky, (who had Marty Mcsorley to protect him his whole career)
every time a hockey player steps on the ice it's full blown action and constant hitting!!!

afterhours
08-01-2004, 07:14 PM
hockey players come back on the ice after sustaining injuries that would knock most players in other sports out of game(exclude ronnie lott) and put nomore into retirement.
