How much is the MDA Tournament? Is it a price per team or per angler?

To everyone else: If Striped-Bass.Com were to field a team, would you be interested in joining?

And can you forward me the rules again and just post the gist of the tourney?

Thanks...

John

The current fee is $50.00 and that is for the entire club. The dates are October 26th to the 28th.

We are negotiating with Lenny at the Andrea Hotel for having the final weigh in there followed by a breakfast or brunch.

Usually the clubs will also donate some sort of tackle or lures for prizes. We also collected additional money by passing the hat at the end of the tournament.

I will e-mail the document Jim McKeough is sending out.

I'd like to fish it. I may be in Mexico but I may be back by then. Will know better in a week or so. Is it a four man team? I'd be willing to pay my share and if I can't go , someone else can take my place for no fee. I'll talk to Smokey tonight and see what he thinks.

There are really no teams, it is the entire number of participants per club. Some clubs come with as many as 20 to 30 people, some with as little as 1 or 2. Remember this is a charity and knowledge based event.

Typically, clubs have had around 8 or so people. Clubs like the Weekapaug SurfCasters(local) may have 20 or 30 members fishing but will only have 6 or so members weighing fish.

Remember this is for charity and a means for others to chat about their respective areas and their overall concerns for Surf Fishermen/Fisherwomen.

Hope this helps,
Don M

I'm pretty sure Smokey will do it. We fish RI late in the season anyway so we'll be down there.

It looks like my trip to Canada is in jeopardy, so if I'm around, I will join the team.

Our BASS club used to hold an MDA tourny each year with around 120 teams and my dad and I fished as a team. In four years, we finished 8th, 4th and 3rd... the last year, well we were tied... for last with 0.00lbs. Anyway, I would think that the fish gods are pretty kind to me when I fish for charity.

I don't really know when I'll be sure, 'cause I may take a subsitute trip to Florida or out west to fish trout and visit my cousin. But it sounds fairly flexible.
