i want to get into plug building what will i need to get started i am a graphic artist and i am good with my hands the only thing i have made is broomstick poppers so far

Like BF said. Couple hours watching and talking with these guys is equal to a 4 yr degree.Then do a search and ask questions and you will be on your way.:)

A good way to start would be to pick up a few kits from njtackle.com. Seal, prime, paint, clear coat and add hardware. If you end up not liking it, you hardly have anything invested. If you get a kick out of those, then think about getting a lathe and other goodies to make plugs from scratch. Check back here and we'll help you get started into the abyss :D

I just built 7 NJT kit plugs. It's a great way to learn. I do want to try a few more kit type applications before I take the full plunge.

k for some reason i want to build my own plugs. ive never been much of a plug user but im intrigued by the stuff u guys come up with. im 19 never done work with wood/painting but i really wana learn what's the best thing for me to do to get started?

surfcasting, Njtackle.com has some popper, needle and swimmer kits. Come with the blank already turned and hardware to finish it. You seal, prime, paint, then clear coat. Not much $$ to get started. If you find you like that, then you can jump up to the next step.

Go to the local hardware and get some Krylon or Rustoleum rattle cans. Don't forget the primer.
