From a category 2 to a 4 (145+mph winds) within 90-mins, it's going to leave incredible destruction if it impacts the Tampa area at that strength.

Been getting emails from my folks, they're in North Ft. Myers, its going to be hitting them head on. It was supposed to be north of them but it changed direction a few hours back. They're not right on the coast but its still going to be rough. the houses down there don't have basements to go to if anything happens.
I'm hoping for the best.

I spoke to him an hour ago and he said the wind was just starting to pick up. He hasn't lived down there long enough to have witnessed a big storm yet...I guess his hurricane virginity is about to be snatched away;)

my folks have a home in N. Redington beach(between St.Pete and Clearwater), thank god there here in Mass now. At least the heaviest winds are supposed to hit at low tide, if there is a low tide.

Gov. Jeb Bush said he had sought a federal disaster declaration from President Bush (news - web sites), his brother, and urged residents to stay wherever they were.

"This is not the time to be getting on the interstate. It is time to seek a safe place to be with family and friends inside of your region," the governor said.

my grandma lives 15 miles north of tampa with my aunt and uncle. they left their property this morning, they were smart enough to make reservations for a motel 2 days ago. they just moved there from old lyme CT last month. they have been thru a few storms, grandma rode out the storm of 38'. i hope their new house doesn get shmucked up too bad.

likwid is gonna be pumped for that shot.

i don't think we see much of a swell considering it's inside path but the wind swell (IF the wind does what they are trying to forecast  ) should be pretty rowdy.

Time to go windfagging (I hope) :D

fish hard tonight :D
