Bigger pliers :hihi:
I've also heard many say to use the tinned siwash hooks and not the stainless. Less brittle.

U can lean on a pair of big channel locks or put it in a vice.Stainless is the way to go 5/0 an up when u wrap somethin on it.No rust.I usually file the point down some.

I prefer to use split rings. Only problem is on some lures if you have a split on middle and rear, the "hook length" can be so long as sometimes the two hooks snap each other on casts and retrieves. But I prefer them anyway.

Mike,
I have a pair of small pliers that also have a side cutter feature along one side. These have a couple of different slots in the plier jaws that the loop fits into and will not slip so ya just put a little muscle to them and the siwash closes right up!
Mike at M&D's carries a larger size of the pliers I am talking about.
