Let's come up with a better name than "Newbies" for those that have recently signed up....

The message board system automatically adds a group name to every person based on the amount of posts that user has made. For the first 60 or so - you show up as "newbie" - which is a standard name for people new to a typical - geek style - message board but I think we should have something a little more descriptive and less geeky than plain old "Newbies"...

Thanks,

John - you friendly neighborhood fishing computer geek....

Since this is a striper fishing site. How about calling us new guys, schoolies?

Maybe BCY has the ticket, schoolies works for me, but then what does that make Schoolie Monster:D ...the king of the newbies?

Schoolie would be a good idea but unfortunately that would be copyright infringement and I'd have to sue for punitive damages.

What were some of the terms for new or young sailors back in 1600-1700's on whaling or fishing vessels? There must have been something good.

Why am I drawing a blank on the lowest naval rank...

I posted several times last year as "sandman", I could not log on as that for the last few weeks (it did not rec. my email address) so I re-reg. as Mr. Sandman.

I guess I'm your newest schoolie, just signed up. Thanks, Patrick, for letting me in on this board. I'm just starting to consider New England striper fishing; I've been at it down in Jersey for a few years now, and thought it is time to branch out. Hope you don't mind a few neophyte questions now and then.

Don't worry about the neophyte questions..I'm sure I'm more of a beginner than you. Hoping patrick will get me on my first striper come October....anyway I just started posting here but these are a nice group of guys and gals and they're really helpful. (You know if they can put up with Patrick and his girlfriend they can't be a bad bunch..hahaha)
