A nice shop is M+D's Bait and Tackle. He's on Main street Wareham. He can also turn you on to where the fishing is hot the time you are there.

In General , the Cape Cod Canal is good then and Southern RI is also good then.

If you fish Stuart inlet a lot you shouldn't have any problem fishing up this way.

I take it you will have your gear with you on the drive from NY to Boston. You drive right thru RI and if you look at the water you will see where to fish from, just pick a spot anywhere. It's amazing how much moving water is along the shores of New England where stripers can be caught. There are many places in Mass. to fish for bass, get a map and study it first, then read some more about this area and you will learn where the more productive places are. You are right that snook and stripers are similar the way we catch them. If you want a really large bass, try tossing live eels and reel them in sloooooow. Do you use Gibbs Danny plugs in the surf down there for snook?

I'll second M&D's in Wareham. Tell him you saw him here and he'll get you fixed up and pointed in the right direction. October can be hit or miss in Boston but it can be lots of hits on the Cape and RI - just too early to really say where.

Now we know you surfcast but what / how do you surfcast for snook? Baits / Lures? Type of rod, etc.... If you are up for doing the guide thing, you could fish mental with this guy: http://www.striped-bass.com/sponsors/dgs/dgsindex.shtml He doesn't have all his oars in the water but he's a helluva guy and can fish. Bring Wendy's food for tip :hihi:

Sadly, I might be over fishing some stinkin' derby on the island of the rich and miserable and wayward surfcasters (Hi Jim :wavey: )

im just going to bring up a couple of penns that i use on the beach here...ill find a rod up by you all....as well as some trusted and proven lures....tiger stripped wind cheater as well as the black and orange for night time....1oz rattle trapp chrome and blue...jointed xtra long a - bomber - olive mainly but sometimes chartruese and blue.......if i could only use only one lure the rest of my life it would be that xtralong a jointed bomber olive......

live bait is another long email so ill wait to tell you all about that...

gibbs danny....are those teak....kinda look like a creek chub but with a tappered head and small metal lip....about six inches long with rabbit hair tied into the trailer treble hook....i have a buddy that lives in ri....does alot of striper fishing but i havent been able to talk to him lately....he has given lures to me like i just described and says the striper fisherman up there swear by them...i have one in yellow and another that is green tiger striped with a silver belly....it has the exact coloration as the windcheater i mentioned earlier....he keeps bugging me to use them for snook but i just dont have the heart because they are so beautiful and i dont want it to get broken off....they both sit in my hall of fame/retired lure collection....snook getter
