penn captiva reel blew a gasket!! or more acurately a 3/16 OD o-ring.
I removed the spool last night to give it a good rinse of fresh water. when I replaced the spool a very small busted o-ring was pushed through the bolt hole.
Now I get to take apart the spool and figure out how to replace it... if I can find one at the store that is the right size.
anyone have replacement parts handy or blowup pictures of the new captiva reels and spools?

Which Captiva reel is it? I just bought a Captiva back in July and so far it's been holding up.
CS8000?

Wow! there sure are a lot of parts in that spool!!!
captiva CV8000 (http://www.pennreels.com/Current%20Exp/407-CV8000-rev4.pdf)
the other penn schematics are there too but the navigation seems a bit on the broken side. I had to grab this from the raw html source.
the part that broke for me is the O-Ring :)
60A ‘O’ Ring 060A8000CV
I never would have guessd where to put in its replacement.
now I need to get one! what a bitch! maybe getting a spool and paying someone else to install the new ring would be a good idea.

RedTop in Buzzards is the only one in MA listed.

dropped the reel off with Pete at Belsans.
Still have my 5500's and spare spool from the MSBA raffle :)
going to hit the scituate suds this evening and maybe again in the AM.
I think my toy boat will stick with the fresh water until the storm passes.

I had the CV 5000 Captiva. One word Junk! I brought it back to Galyans up in Danevers and got store credit. I used the credit and cash for the 460 slammer.
