I think most coaches would rather start one winner, than choose between two losers. Besides, Davie lit up the european league:rolleyes: This summer, while Gannon got fitted for a new claw cane.

"2 losers? "
You saying Rich Gannon is a loser?
If thats the case there must be a lot of winners who wish they were league mvp and one of the highest rated quarterbacks for the last 5 seasons! :smash:

He's 38 and coached by Norv Turner. I really used to like watching the Raiders, but these last couple of years have me convinced that Al Davis is subsisting on a steady diet of paint chips and scotch. Too bad, Raider fans deserve better.

If you have two qb's, you don't have a qb.

If you have no backup as the Pats don't ( that guy Davey SUCKS!!! ) (And Jim Miller is made of glass because he can't stay healthy!!!)
and the Raiders were stuck with Rick Mirer last season :smash:
you,re done if Brady goes down like gannon did last season!

davey doesnt "suck" he put up great numbers at nfl europe and was solid in college. guy has a cannon attached to his shoulder and is a BIG guy he would fit in fine with this system especially now that the pats have a credible running threat and the qb wont have to throw 40-50 times a game for pats to win
wasn't tuiasosopo the backup for the raiders?
edit: nvm tuiasosopo was 3rd :P

Ron, you do need a back-up...I was talking about the run-of-the-mill QB controversy that turns into two "starters". That usually never works out.

Didn't Mike Bishop have a cannon for an arm also!!!
If thats the case in what makes a good quarterback, Bleodoe should retire now so he can get the 5 years overwith to get in the hall of fame:laughs:

Davey DOES SUCK!!! Big difference from college and nfl earope to playing in the NFL!!!

I think Davey would look alot different behind a starting o-line.
The Pats are heading into Thursdays opener without showing Indy or the rest of the league even a hint of whats to come.

Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!

michael bishop didnt have the college success or nfl europe success for that matter of davey. hes shown he is capable of leadin a team, hes done so in the past and is a competent backup to tom brady
edit: and of course u didnt adress the fact that if he were thrown into starting they could rely on running this year, he wouldn't have to win games, just not make stupid mistakes and lose them. hes shown(in nfl europe and college) to be a disciplined ball manager
edit: davey's stats in nfl europe last yr
http://www.nfleurope.com/teams/stats/BER
he was 2k1 sugar bowl mvp threw for 3k yards that year. he doesnt SUCK. hes unproven at the nfl level but so was brady when he was thrown into the mix. everywhere he's had a chance davey's been good

Fishsmith hit it on the head.

How can you judge a guy who isn't playing with a single starting player (not one) -against one of the top defenses in the league?

Puh-lease.

You can use your eyes and your eyes can tell you that Davie stinks. Backups or no, he would show something. The backup QB works thruout camp with the 2nd team so they should have some chemistry. If you read alot about the mini-camps and camp and preseason, its pretty interesting. I haven't watched alot, but I work with plenty of hardcore Pats fans who started off all happy about Davie.

After watching all the preseason games they have drawn the same conclusion... he stinks.

But most teams are in trouble when the starter goes down... especially a Brady who comes thru big time at the end. Try and be objective and tell me how many games they would have won last year with 95% of the QBs out there.

Miami, Denver (my team), Houston, Indy... the superbowl, the Tennessee game... those are just off the top of my head. He's a special player and to argue that Davie could even remotely fill his shoes is RIDICULOUS. He stinks... so does Danny Kannell, Denver's backup. Its part of life. There are only so many good QBs in the league.

Oakland is in decent shape... Collins has played pretty well at times. I'd take him off the bench in a heartbeat.

Of course, unless Gannon shows that he's healthy and at his age, can get his game back, they are gonna need Kerry. Gannon was struggling before he got hurt last year.

Rumer mill today is that if SD cuts Flutie, the Pats will be interested.....

We have Miller back again, but Davies is still #2, I trust Belichick, he's seems to be pretty good at picking quality backups.

SM hit it right on the head. Put Bledsoe in the last three seasons in place of Brady, that and 1.50 would get you a cup of coffee...
