As you know, this weekend is scheduled as the Mass Leg of the Striped-Bass.com C&R tourney. I feel we would be wise NOT to let these animals take our freedoms and joys. There has been a systematic attack on our lives, joys, and freedoms. But not on our spirit. Sure it sounds a little corny but we are like that at times.
So I do not wish to cancel the tournament but the question is, do we reschedule:

For keeping it open:

1. We can still show our camaraderie as a group and take comfort from our friends.

2. There is a certain theraputic element in fishing that we can certainly use.

For postponing:

1. Our families may wish us not to go.

2. It may seem a little early to avail ourselves to pleasure when so many will be unable to do so.

This tournament is for all of you and it's your choice. In the grand scheme of things, it falls well short of the importance of family and community and should not be placed before those. So I'd like to hear from you all on whether we should reschedule to the weekend of October 5th & 6th...

Thanks,

John

I'm still hoping to get out of town Friday for 4-5 days in the woods of Maine, so count me out anyway. I hope everyone does participate, I'm sure everyone of us could us the mental distraction, along with the company of friends. Good luck to all that attend.

The United States is open for business. I believe we should fish, I would prefer to mourn with my comrades. The small children I have at home don't need to bear the burden of this terrible event.

While we can not and should not lose sight of the tragedy, we should move on, so let's do it as scheduled.

As I said in my e-mail to John and Saltheart, I will support whatever the board decides to do.

Lets not forget what happened but I feel we should get together. We cannot let these terrorists distrupt our lives any more! I pray to God that action will be swift with the ones responsible!

at 5;30 this morning iwent to go to work, as soon as I pulled up to my boat I noticed ,no ,one else going out, I called a lobster boatthat was just leaving the cove and he told me between the airports shutdown and the condition of Ny City no one has any idea when we can work, anyway I decided I might as well go fishing, I knew what the radio and tv would be like///// I tried quite a few rockpiles, hills, shorelines == One descent schoolie [JohnR I don;t know where you fished last Saturday but it couldn;t have been Narragansett bay]] I ran north as far up as the old commercial docks at Fields POint, bluefish, bluefish, and more bluefish, there were so many schools that they outnumbered the boats so some schools were completely left alone, some didn;t even have birds on them, never seen anthing like it;; ; JohnR Imight take the tin boat up tonight, page me soon if you would like to go, fishpart you too ,in that case i/ll take the tug, its just that it takes longer to get there and more gas , if either of you want to go ,PAGE me 401-7864669, JohnR you would have to get of work early, If Idon;t haer from you guys by 2;30, i[ll see if John from Sunrise wants to go /// later

Clammer - the wife is sick so I'll be leaving work early but runing interference with the little guy (so my wife can nap)...

When we were out Saturday, there were NO birds working from Warwick Light up to the Pawtuxet. We managed to find a couple tiny schools that the yahoos drove under but picked up a few. The few times I looked yesterday (some minute distraction), things were visually dead in both directions at the end of the street

I didn't want to go nuts Saturday as I had never been aboard the boat before and wanted to, uh, analyze things before making any serious attempts...

There is nothing like the beach to help sort out emotions, and get in touch with your soul, also gives us plenty of time to think about the tragedy and how to cope. I think we should fish. I think getting together will only help us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those effected.

I think we should continue on, maybe we could have a moment of silence though before we start.
