The Lanes Cove Blue Fish Tournament drew approx. 430 participants, the largest crowd to date!!!;) this event keeps growing every year which started as a 5 dollar bet between 3 friends ten years ago for who would catch the biggest bluefish!!!:D

1st place--- 11.5 $1600.00 cash:happy: :happy:

2nd place--- 11.2 $1000.00 cash:D :D

3rd place---- 10.5 $ 750.00 cash:) split 2 winners


This year they also gave six $50.00 prises; $100 bucks gift certificate and a $200.00 rod combo!!!!;) :cool:

Those numbers seem on the small side......was it because of swells?

I haven't been out at all since I last saw you on the water. We have been busy getting ready for and taking my so to college in Wisconsin. Will try and get back into the swing of things this weekend but the long range doesn't look so good...

:) didn't do good at all !!! Only one small blue fish !!! Anybody that fished on the harbor side didn't fair well!!!! those that went out on the bay side did allot better!!! No one side of the island is protected by a north east wind!!!!

You won't find it on the web or in tackle shops!!!!

It is an annual local Labor Day BlueFish Tournament held on sunday of labor day weekend!!!

It has grown & grown from like I said, from 3 friends making a bet,to the locals and spread to their friends from all over where ever, to 430 people participating !!!! You can sign up by boat or drive your car to sign up and then go fish where ever you like!!!!

It all takes place at Lanes Cove in Gloucester known as Lanesville!!!!:happy: :happy:

I will be posting it next year, so if interested look for the posting !!!! It's not a bad way to spend the day and maybe if lucky make a buck!!!!;) :cool:
