Looking to get some cod, haddock and pollock in the freezer and on the grill. Can anyone recommend a good charter that won't break my wallet? Can be anywhere from hampton, nh to plymouth, ma.

Split it with three others. I'm sure you can round up a few more takers from this site.;) Mike B is the way to go. Much better than the party boats.

Out of Hampton,

You could try www.algauron.com

Hope it's ok to post a link. I have used Gauron's lots of times.

Typical party boat, you can get packed, but I have had good trips and good mates!

I have also tried Eastmans and always go back to Gauron's.

They are just over the bridge oposit Eastmans.

BF is a good charter, if Capt Tom P. is taking the boat himself. I don't have much good to say about them after the Bigfish II ran over 100$ worth of gear of mine last year like a bunch of googans:smash:

Ave Maria is the way to go:D

the bunnyclark out of ogunquit maine is a good choice,
the boat is much smaller than eastmans and al gaurons boat.
less people= less confution.
if you get on a marathon trip there ia half the fisherman and it stays out longer.
think of it for next year.... bunnyclark dot com

I would go for Ave Maria Charters. I enjoyed their offshore trips.

I'd vote for Yankee Fleet out of Gloucester. http://www.yankeefleet.com/ Have always had good luck there, I agree, the small boat is best. Caught over 100lbs. of Cod and Haddock with a buddy last spring:D Not bad for a $50.00 day!

Fished Both Eastmans and Gaurons. At Eastmans we were on the Lady audrey Mae and it was a very clean boat and the rods we rented had big red reels called penn 114 H, very quick to reel up. The Cap and crew was great. On Gaurons we went on the Northern Star, had little black reels that took a day to reel up and the boat smelled like an old herring boat, I don't think they cleaned it in years, but the cap and crew were good also. I would go on either boat but my wife will not go on gaurons cause the boats dirty. So if your going alone either boats good but bringing a lady there is no choice. Price difference is $13 more at Gaurons plus you have to pay to park.
