There's a lumber yard up in Somerville that I get my marine plywood from that has alot of really nice stuff.

Teak/Mahogany/burlwood etc.

If you need some teak (speaking of which) I got a ton of scraps that would be perfect size for laminating for plugs or maybe just turning needles straight out of. :hihi:

correct me if i'm wrong, but if you laminated your plugs with a dense heavy wood on one side and a light bouyant wood on the other, could you get away without using a belly weight?

I should think you could do that,,along with the hooks, it may keep it from rolling out when working the plug........most wood squids that I've seen want to be fished on the surface,,,, splashing around.

That's how my avitar plugs are made... no lead, so they're safe in California.;) Two thirds light, one third heavy... works everytime.

What type of glue do you use and how does it not beat up your lathe tools?:confused:

west system epoxy ,2 part..#105......doesn't seem to hurt the knifes at all....great glue.

CS,have you ever tried the 105 as a clear coat?

not to date I haven't......as with most epoxy glues an c.coat, it will yellow fast...when mixing the glue there's just to much air in it an I don't think you'll ever get it all out, makin it look abit foggie.
