View Full Version : Who's planning on fishing the MV derby this year? Mr. Sandman 09-09-2004, 07:00 AM If so what dates do you expect to be here....:) Flaptail 09-09-2004, 07:02 AM Everyone I hope, keeps them all off of the Outer Cape beaches!:laughs: :laughs: BasicPatrick 09-09-2004, 07:29 AM Mr. sandman, There are a lot of us from the MSBA Crew coming. I will help Fisherwoman & Baitcaster open up what has come to be known as the "Fishin shack" on 9-19. Some of the crew from the board are: BasicPatrick......21 days (plus maybe more with Island friends) Fisherwoman....21days Baitcaster........21 days Topwater.........on and off for a total of at least 14 days Beetle..............10days Swimmer..........10 days Squid Kids dad....10 days John R & Schoolie Monster....at least 3 days There is another house full also... Casper is coming Do I smell a S-b Mv get together goosefish 09-09-2004, 07:30 AM I'II be out there from the 12th to the 17th. It's our honeymoon trip, so I don't know if I'II be pulling all-nighters throwing dannys of the north shore. more likely: I'II be the guy sitting on a jetty wall with a pretty women, bonito rod in hand. :) Mr. Sandman 09-09-2004, 07:34 AM Originally posted by BasicPatrick Do I smell a S-b Mv get together Indeed! Perhaps I can talk the wife into a inpromptu BBQ thing at my place. Let me add that derby fever is already here. Most guys are looking forward to the event...Lots of chatter in the shops and local papers about the event (normal)...Huge supplies of eels being delivered, all kinds of gear being preped. I have been out scoping the beaches from shore and boat...I think I put 10 engine hours on just driving around yesterday. It is a little slow right now but it is picking up steam fast. Bones and Albies are here and there were two very large schools of albies around this past week. (big schools) There is plenty of bait around and that should bode well for the beach fisherman...But...there is a lot of weed in the sound and wasque has been difficult to fish lately. But there have been blitzes of blues and a few reports of some decent bass action now. Its starting to come together....a couple more weeks and she should be full tilt. I plan to give it a go tonight with a dozen of my slimy friends and check one or two of my less-well-known places out. Its a little early and the water is a tad warm (still pushin 70 in many places) but its getting dark much earlier now and I am itch'in to fish. Here is the latest buzzz... http://www.mvtimes.com/News/gonefishin.htm I look forward to meeting/seeing some of you guys again and hope to see your name on the leaderboard!! (right behind mine of course!:laughs: ) Fish safe.... ThrowingTimber 09-09-2004, 07:44 AM supposed to be there the week of the 20th but my buddy's wife called it a no go for him  kippy 09-09-2004, 08:08 AM I was planning on going with Drumcorpfan in early October.
