View Full Version : Trying My Hand At A Surfster!
BigFish 09-11-2004, 05:08 PM Got a question.....my surfsters are 4 inches long....how should I weight them? Should I weight them at all? They look great shape wise and in all other respects but I want them to be correctly weighted. Any help would be appreciated......any pictures of your surfsters would also help!;)
justplugit 09-11-2004, 05:29 PM Haven't ever seen them weighed.Hahn never weighed his 5in and the larger CC7400 series i copied from Tagger were not weighed. If you use the Tinman lip it will help in casting, and it digs in real nice. Also ,BM says to use the red cedar for the Hahn.
BigFish 09-11-2004, 05:35 PM Thanks JPI....I used AYC and others have also said no weight. Thanks a bunch, I will let you know how I make out.:D
Should be getting my lip delivery Monday!
justplugit 09-11-2004, 05:43 PM Post um up!:D
The 7400 CCB surfster is 7 1/4" long and weighs 2 1/2 ozs. 2 4/0 belly hooks and a 4/0 rear treble. The 7400 Special had 1 belly hook at 4 3/8" from rear of plug and a rear treble. It weighs 4 ozs. Loaded in the rear for us eastcoast guys.
Jigman 09-11-2004, 05:53 PM Tinman makes killer lips, but the surfster lip he does will be too big for a 4 inch surfster. Try a #4 colorado blade.

capesams 09-11-2004, 08:57 PM I have a few creek chub surfsters[real one's]..the 4" kind,,and they have the same size lip as the 7"er's:huh:
Here is an original 7200 surfster. Lip is much smaller than the one used on the 7300 and 7400 sizes. note only 1 screw
