the boy had fun, as did everyone else.

we tagged a solid 9 footer after this one. no spinnin' rod there.
gave us a good 1/2 hour run arround.
beautiful weather to boot.

How do you get the hook out without loosing a hand?

Thanks for the bright side of loosing the combo Dave!!!!

Chef,

You dont get the hook out of that badboy! I was the one taking the picture and the pics dont do the size of that baby justice!
Your running along at about 5 mph with a fish of over 200#'s right along side. Mike had the leader in had and we just handed him the side cutters and he raised the sharks head slightly and cut the hook off. The larger shark we caught that day got a little spunky when I stuck it with the tag and we didnt have time to cut the hook off. The shark just lunged and the loop in the steel leader just broke in half. These creatures have amazing power when the want to.
Afterall a 30lb bass can pull right? Well think of how a fish with a tail(which generates most of their power) 3 times as large as a 30lb bass would pull?

IT was an amazing day out there and to top it off the last fish I caught before we headed in was the largest cod of the day at a bit over 15#'s. Only a few Haddock that day.......
