Just firmed up my plans to go back to Kansas for 10 day's in December for deer season.

Yup! It's getting close. Just checked on my gear last Sunday :D

i am only going to do shotgun season for deer this year.

Bring it!!!! Buildin #19 in NB has scent blocker jackets that range between 30 and 40$..these are last years jackets these same jackets where goin for 200$.....Where you gonna find a deal like that??? insulated and uninsulated

How long have ya been hunting Kansas??? I thought that just opened it to non residents in the last 5+years or so. Do ya bow hunt or just gun???

They seem to have allot of deer from the tv programs ya see!!! Plus allot of money. Do ya hunt public land out there???

I am packing up my birdog the 3rd week of October to head off to Maine for a week hunting grouse woodcock and ducks, cant wait

Used to do opening day ducks w/ my college roomate in CT - tradition for many yrs. Loved going early season for bushytails w/ a .22 !

Started deer hunting not too long ago and have pretty good success for some one who doesn't put any time into it. ;) I skipped last yr, but got a nice 11 pt before that. :D In all honesty i would have prefered a doe - way better eating.

No plans to hunt this yr - some how my desire just isn't there any more. I think part of it is my daughter is old enough now to have feelings for "bambi" hanging in the garage. :( Last time out I skinned and cut ut up in big pieces down in CT so she never saw any of it. How do you guys deal with that ? She knows I've been out hunting but she didn't understand it that well.

Can't wait. Bird season only a few weeks away. This is my second year with my pooch, I'm planning on having a better hunting season than fishing season, but we will see. Totally bites with no birds around to buy....makes it tough to finish up with my hound before the season starts. Oh Well, had a good season last year and she was only 4 months old. Any of you hunters out there know anywhere thats selling Quail or chuckar or anything?

used to hunt everything when I lived in Vermont. But now that I am in the peoples republic of MA, I do not have my guns and therefore relagated to longer duration trips up in Vermont. so for the most part strictly deer hunting now. So I am still fishing through oct this year, and into nov....then it is deer season.

If any of you guys out there have a dog and are going out for quail or pheasent next month I'd like to tag along. I have a few spots down in Plymouth that I go every year to get a few, but I don't have a dog.

Shotgun only for deer here, and I usually like to hunt alone. Do a lot of tracking, I like to pretend I'm an Indian and do it old school style. :D

Best part of hunting for me is tracking a deer that doesn't even know you're there; if you want to take him it's at your discretion, what a feeling.

I wait till it gets a bit cooler to sight-in.

Hey Chris, there is a catch and release huntery, bring a camera:D I used to do that with my dad when I was a kid. If I got a good picture that deer was tagged and released in my eyes.

cant do it . I might get shot from one of the many cant shoot straight yuppie hunters . I take pictures of wildlife out of season is that against the law ? would I be considered a peta prick if I was found photgraphing wildlife in season ?

which end of the gun faces the enemy ( wildlife ) ? is it safe and nonthreatning to use rubber bullets ? Is it illeagal to use a zoooooooom lens ? or is a telephoto lens safer for the enemy ( wildlife ) . If I use a macro do I need permission from the land owner ?

Is there any moose on your property? I filled out for a Maine moose permit last year, haven't heard back yet though.

oh you know I thought the painted sign on the long skinny part was a joke . it said " point this end towards enemy " with an arrow pointing to the skinny end of the gun . I saw that one other time . I was crawing through the woods and came across a plastic square about 5X9 supported by 4 legs with 2 knobs on top with wire coming out of it . it also said " point toward enemy " . I wonder what would happen if I didnt ?

makes you wonder doesnt it ? why ? although I have seen a LAW fired in the wrong direction . my favorite is the guy in the tank in front of me at a rail yard and the loader didnt believe that it only took 1.5 volts to set off a 105mm round so he connected a 9v to the firing pin . Boom that was the last time he did that !

Got the bow out yesterday, 4 shots in a baseball sized group, blew off one nock and tore a fletch, i guess im ready for bow season.

not usually moose in deer country - or so I have heard.
could be wrong.
there are definitely deer and the occasional bear.

S Journey I am always game to chase up some wild quail with my German Wirehair just drop a line, I typically don't hunt in Mass been shot, had guys setup over my decoys, you know all that frustrating crap that real sportsman shouldn't do. PartsJay what kind of dog? Also try partridge farm in Berkley, if she doesnt right across the street theres another lady as well. If you ever need a training partner drop a line have been doing this for 13 years now have info on a group that trains in CT if you need help.

I hunted one of those places in bekley, nice people.

Yup, started bow hunting in Connecticut already, small doe in freezer, wish I had a couple of stripers along side of it:(

I have a German Shorthaired Pointer. My first dog, but grew up with them, my dad has had 3 of them. Awesome bird dog. Usually hunt Plymouth or Crane.
