What is the fish in that first picture?

I assume the bluefish looking fish are either blues or amberjack..

Thanks Bernzy Just got these from a International customer who is VERY HAPPY with the Performance as I am. The fourth photo is OVER 90lbs. and called a GT. Waiting for I.d on the other speices, There is debate at times on Split rings and swivels versus screw eyes. and cut hooks or closed eye. And the swivels and split rings held, ALSO the V.M.C hooks did not BEND . It proves to ME what I already NEW........... Top quality components WILL hold up......................

I think the first two are GTs (giant trevally) too, the 3rd is a blooo bastage from the looks of it, and the last one looks like some kind of small tuna. I don't think an amberjack has those little finlets towards the tail

I wonder what a 100-pound giant trevally-catching-custom Habby would fetch at some foo-foo marina on Grand Bahama?
I don't think those dudes are picking through the lure bins at Job Lot - they look like they wipe their butts with c-notes.....

Might be a Dog tooth Tuna, they around that area and have a more slender profile than most tuna. If you can see the mouth then there would be no doubt, they have teeth like a barracuda.

I know several guys that landed nice bluefin tuna on habs needles this season. No photos :( . The trick was to pull behind a dragger when he is hauling up his gear or shovling his by-catch overboard and cast a needle in the mix and hang on.

If they can take that kind of pressure, they can handle any bass. Like my friend said..."when in doubt, cast a Habs"

Mr. Sandman, Thanks for the info More photos to show when I get them from the Others...............How them split rings working out.

Mr. Sandman
09-22-2004, 07:36 AM
JHABS,

Those doubles are the strongest split rings for their size I have ever seen and the triples are overkill (but some people like overkill).

I have not been able to destroy the doubles you sent me. And they are the ideal size for most plugs.

All of the ones sold in packages in the shops (that I have seen and used) of the same ring OD are made of thinner wire and will open, esp with a big fish when used with VMC trebles with braid line and graphite rods in strong currents. (weakest link syndrome)

I will give you a call about ordering some of the triples after the fall run for next season.

Thanks again for providing the angler with quality gear.
